Definitions
- the present invention is in the field of equipment used to seal a bay formed in a building for industrial use or other. More particularly, the present invention relates to a sectional door whose opening and closing movement is vertically parallel to the plane of the bay. State of the art
- the sectional doors consist of a succession of panels assembled to each other by hinge devices defining horizontal geometric axes of articulation.
- These panels are provided with lateral guide rollers engaged in lateral guide rails bordering the vertical lateral sides of the bay.
- lateral guide rollers engaged in lateral guide rails bordering the vertical lateral sides of the bay.
- these rails each have successively a vertical segment occupying substantially the entire height of the bay, a circular arcuate segment connected to the upper end of the vertical segment and a horizontal segment connected to the curved segment.
- These rails are fixed by any known means to the frame of the building.
- the hinge devices are either attached to the panels or formed therein. Hinge devices reported on the panels are described for example in the patent application FR 2504 587. These hinge devices consist essentially of two blades each provided with charrios arranged at regular intervals. The links of each of the blades are placed between the carriages of the other in alignment relation. A hinge pin is introduced into the various charriages.
- this kind of hinged device is fixed against the inner face of the building, panels of the sectional door. Since these hinges are not in themselves waterproof, the water and airtightness at the joints of the panels is usually ensured by seals and / or by a particular conformation of the jointing planes. Signs. But it turns out that such provisions are insufficient to ensure a good seal.
- each panel according to one of its horizontal borders, is provided with a male articulation element and according to its other horizontal edge of a female articulation element , the male and female hinge elements being intended to cooperate in shape interlock with the female and male hinge elements of the adjacent panels.
- the male hinge member has a longitudinal flat and the female hinge member forms a continuous groove and has a longitudinal opening through which the male hinge member is radially engaged in said groove. The engagement of the male element in the female element is authorized only when the two panels concerned occupy a determined angular position relative to each other, corresponding approximately to the perpendicular position of the flat relative to the plane of the opening. But despite the continuity of the hinge formed, the seal between the panels, in the closed position of the door, is not satisfactory.
- these panels have no particular provision to eliminate the risk of pinching fingers.
- the tightness of the bay at the threshold, with the door closed is often a problem. This can result from a lack of flatness of the threshold or a lack of horizontality, these two defects accumulating in most cases.
- the joints on the bottom panel of the door can compensate for these defects only to the extent that they are not too pronounced but most often this is not the case.
- the panels are supported and guided in the guide rails by two lateral pairs of rollers. Usually the axes supporting the guide rollers are engaged in the hinge elements.
- the jambs of the bay are usually each equipped with a vertical section carrying a lip seal.
- This lip seal is intended to be applied against the large outer face to the construction of the sectional door.
- Such a sealing arrangement however has a disadvantage that the deck of the sectional door is movable back and forth perpendicularly to its plane which changes the degree of compression of the two seals against the large outer face of the deck .
- the two seals are more weakly compressed than when the apron of the door is in the forward position.
- the door apron is brought back to the rear position, that is to say in a position of less compression of the joints and consequently less tightness . In this position days between the joints and the apron can be formed which results in leaks.
- each sectional door is assembled in situ by assembling the panels together. To do this, the lower panel is put in place in the spokes and then the next higher panel is assembled to this lower panel. The other panels are put in place successively one above the other. If the installation of the lower panels does not pose a problem in itself, this pose being performed at man's height, it is quite different for the installation of the upper panels. To carry out this operation, it is appealing, to manipulate the panel at a distance from the ground, to two people installed on lifting platforms in the best case. Usually it turns out the two people in charge of laying, use, either for reasons of costs for reasons of availability, two scales which proves contrary to the safety rules.
- the present invention aims to solve the aforementioned problems. According to a first of its aspects, the present invention relates to a continuous hinge system for sectional door panels.
- This system consisting of a first horizontal panel edge profile and a second horizontal panel edge profile, provided to cooperate in articulation with each other, the first horizontal panel edge profile having an element male hinge member and the second horizontal edge profile a female hinge member hingedly receiving the male hinge member, said female hinge member having a groove of circular cross-section and a longitudinal opening radially opening into the circular groove through which aperture said male hinge element is introduced into the groove of the female hinge element, said male hinge element being in a tabular form is essentially characterized in that: - the first horizontal panel edge profile has two parallel lateral wings joined at the bottom by a transverse wing, the male hinge element being formed at the upper end of the first lateral wing,
- the first horizontal edge profile opposite to the male hinge element, has a curved wing in an arc circumferential circle centered on the hinge axis of the hinge, the curved wing is rooted to the second lateral wing of the first horizontal edge profile, a horizontal bearing edge being formed between the curved wing and said lateral wing,
- the bearing edge being arranged in the form of tenon, in the first chicane element
- the second horizontal edge profile has two parallel lateral wings joined in the upper part by a transverse wing; the first vertical wing carries in the lower part the female articulation element;
- the second vertical wing has a horizontal lower support edge arranged in the form of a groove, in a second chicane element, the groove shape being complementary to the tenon shape that the edge has, and in that alignment of the lateral wings of one of the profiles with the lateral wings of the other, the horizontal lower edge of the second wing of the second section by the groove shape is nested on the tenon shape that the edge of supporting the first section to form a baffle, the bent wing extending into the volume of the first and second sections and dividing the volume into two decompression chambers (C2, C3).
- the hinge formed by the male and female hinge elements is at a distance from the outer faces, namely faces subjected to the weather and is separated from these faces by a succession of baffle and decompression chambers ensuring the sealing of the hinge system.
- the curved wing is effectively an anti finger clip device.
- This bent wing according to a first embodiment, in alignment position of the profiles, is spaced from the inner lateral wing of the second section which ensures communication between the two internal chambers formed in the first and the second horizontal panel edge profile. In this configuration, the curved wing forms a chicane.
- the bent wing in the alignment position of the two horizontal edge profiles bears against the inner side wing of the second section. This arrangement thus creates a sealing line between the two internal chambers, the latter two are thus isolated from one another. Moreover, the bent wing bearing against the second section increases the rigidity of the assembly.
- the curved wing is elastically flexible so that bearing against the inner side wing of the first section, it can deform elastically which allows the alignment of the two hinge profiles.
- the first lateral wing of each first and second horizontal panel edge profile has a longitudinal form of attachment of a reinforcing profile.
- Such an arrangement is conducive to improving the rigidity of the articulation system and to reduce the importance of its deformation in bending, in particular under the effect of the thrust of the wind.
- the invention relates to a sectional door whose deck comprises panels connected in pairs to each other by hinge systems according to the first aspect of said invention.
- This sectional door comprises an apron formed of an upper panel, a lower panel and at least one intermediate panel, each rectangular-shaped panel comprising an upper horizontal edge profile, a border profile. horizontal bottom and two vertical side edge profiles, said panels having side rollers adapted to be engaged in side rails of a building bay, which rails each comprise successively a rectilinear vertical portion, a bent portion and a substantially horizontal portion .
- the side edge profiles have the effect of avoiding lateral displacement relative to each other of the two horizontal panel edge profiles.
- the sectional door further comprises two vertical vertical seals provided to come in compression against the deck.
- each panel of the deck has two projecting wings, lateral, perpendicular to the horizontal edge profiles, projecting on the large outer face to the construction of the panel, with each of which cooperates a vertical seal carried by a profile attached to the corresponding leg of the bay, each projecting wing having a flat face facing a flat face of the other projecting wing, the seals bearing against the two large flat faces.
- the bore of the male hinge element of each first panel edge profile receives at each end a support shaft which is articulated externally to said bore, an arm having two guide rollers disposed equidistant from the support axis.
- the value of the distance between the two rollers worn by the same arm is less than or equal to the value of the maximum chord of the bent part of each guide rail.
- the width of each panel is equal to or greater than the maximum value of the rope of the bent portion of each guide rail. This arrangement is likely to reduce the number of panels constituting the sectional door.
- the invention relates to an apparatus for mounting the panels of the sectional door.
- This apparatus comprises a means of lifting the panels in the guide rails and a docking table for the docking of a panel at the lower end of the line of panels formed in the guide rails.
- the docking table consists of a frame with rolling members and a plate, tilting relative to the horizontal, on which will be installed flat the panel to ask .
- This mounting apparatus as described allows to mount the various panels constituting the door no longer in height but at ground level safely.

- the continuous hinge system according to the invention for sectional door panels P is formed of a first horizontal panel edge profile 1 and a second section 2. horizontal panel border.
- These two sections 1 and 2 are preferably metal, aluminum for example, but it goes without saying that any other suitable material, metallic or non-metallic may be adopted.
- These two profiles 1 and 2 are provided to cooperate in articulation with one another to form the hinge of two adjacent panels of sectional door S.
- Such a sectional door S is provided to equip the bay of a building that can be without limitation a garage, a local industrial and other.
- the first and second horizontal panel edge profiles 1, 2 each comprise two parallel lateral wings 10, 11, 20, 21, joined to each other by a transverse wing 12, 22 developing perpendicular to the two wings side.
- the lateral wings 10 and 20 are internal to the building, the wings 11 and 21 are external to the latter. In the remainder of the present description, these wings will be designated respectively by internal lateral wing and outer lateral wing.
- the two lateral wings that each profile 1, 2 has are of unequal heights, the outer wing 11, 21 being of height h1 greater than the height h2 of the inner wing 10, 20.
- the outer lateral flange 11, 21 of each section 1, 2 develops on either side of the transverse wing 12, 22 while the inner wing 10, 20 develops only on one side of this last.
- the first panel horizontal edge profile 1 comprises a male hinge element 13 while the second horizontal panel edge profile 2 comprises a female hinge element 23, these two elements 13 and 23 being intended to cooperate with each other. other by interlocking shape to achieve a joint. It can be seen that the male hinge element 13 is formed at the end of the inner lateral wing 10 of the first horizontal panel edge profile while the female hinge element 23 is formed at the end of the lateral wing 20 of the second horizontal panel edge profile.
- the male hinge element 13, tubular, of circular cross section, has a longitudinal central bore, cylindrical, through 130 and a longitudinal slot 131 opening radially in said longitudinal bore 130.
- the female hinge element 23, tabular, present a central bore 230, longitudinal through, of circular cross section and a longitudinal opening 231 opening radially into the through bore 230. Through this opening 231, the male hinge element 13 is introduced into the bore 230 of the element of female hinge 23. It may be noted that the external diameter that the male hinge element 13 presents corresponds to the functional clearance close to the diameter of the longitudinal bore 230 of the female hinge element.
- the opening 231 that presents the female hinge element 23 is delimited by two longitudinal lips 231a, 231b, angularly spaced from each other by a value less than 180 degrees, the first 231a of these two lips being formed by the corresponding edge of the lateral flange 20.
- the opening 231 that has the female hinge element 23 is turned towards the outside of the internal volume defined by the lateral and transverse wings of the second section 2.
- the slot 131 that presents the male hinge element 13 is turned towards the internal volume of the first section.
- FIGS. 3 to 6 show the way in which the two horizontal panel edge profiles 1, 2 are assembled to one another.
- the first section 1 is disposed obliquely with respect to the second 2, the side walls 10 and 20 forming in this configuration an acute angle ⁇ .
- the slot 131 of the male hinge element 13 is arranged opposite of the second lip 231b of the female hinge member 13.
- the male hinge member 13 can be introduced into the bore 230 of the female hinge member 23 (Fig. 3).
- the slot 131 that presents the male hinge element 13 is angularly spaced from the second longitudinal lip 23 Ib of the opening 231 of the element of female hinge 23.
- the two profiles are assembled to each other. It may be noted (FIG. 4) that the assembly of the two sections 1, 2 to one another is already obtained with an angle value of the angle ⁇ less than 90 degrees.
- the first horizontal panel edge profile 1, opposite the male hinge element 13, has a flexible flange 14 curved arc circumferential circle centered on the hinge axis of the hinge.
- This curved wing 14 is rooted to the second lateral wing 11 of the first horizontal edge profile 1.
- a horizontal support edge 15 is formed between the arched wing 14 and the lateral wing 11. As can be seen, this arched wing 14 extends upwards from the side wall 11.
- the side wall 21, by its horizontal lower edge 18 bears on the edge of 15.
- This bearing arrangement and the hinge formed are in combination, two linear bearing areas of the second section 2 on the first section 1, spaced apart from each other.
- the second longitudinal lip 23 Ib of the female hinge element is positioned beyond the vertical geometric axis secant to the longitudinal geometric axis of articulation of the hinge.
- the support edge 15 is arranged in water discharge and thus has a horizontal facet 150 followed by a facet 151 inclined upwards, followed by a substantially horizontal facet 152.
- the lower horizontal edge 18 of the flange 21 of the second profile has a shape complementary to that of the bearing edge 15. Thus it has a first horizontal facet 180 followed by an inclined facet 181 followed by a third facet 182 which can be rounded. Such an arrangement, when the two edges are in contact with each other, provides a relative weathertightness at this level.
- the bent wing 14, at a distance from the support edge 15, has a horizontal groove seal 16 open on its extrados face.

- the hinge formed by the male and female hinge elements is separated from the outer faces of the wings 11 and 21 by a succession of decompression chambers C1, C2, C3 whose first C1 is delimited by the wings 14 and 21, the seal 17 and the sealing bead 24, the edges 15 and 18 being in abutment against each other.
- the curved wing 14 divides the internal volume formed by the profiles 1 and 2 into two decompression chambers C2, C3.
- the hinge itself forms a fourth decompression chamber C4 this fourth decompression chamber, in a closed position of the sectional door being isolated from the interior of the building by a sealing barrier upper Bl formed by the tangential support of the inner cylindrical face of the female hinge element 23 on the outer cylindrical face of the element of male hinge 13.
- the two chambers C2, C3 are isolated from each other by the curved wing 14, said wing 14 by its end edge, coming into this case in support against the lower surface of the wing 20 of the second section 2. Is thus created, upstream of the hinge, a second continuous sealing barrier. It is understood that at each link panels between them, are formed when the sectional door is in a closed state, between the outer and inner faces of this door, four successive decompression chambers C1, C2, C3, C4 isolated each other ensuring perfect water and air tightness.
- the curved wing 14 is elastically flexible.
- the two decompression chambers C2, C3 are in communication relationship with each other, the curved wing 14 forming in this case a baffle.
- the support disposition of the curved wing 14 against the lateral wing 20 also makes it possible to reinforce the rigidity of the hinge system and to increase its resistance to bending deformation while preserving thicknesses of material. relatively weak.
- Such an arrangement finds particular interest for hinge systems to equip sectional door panels of large bay width for which the thrust due to the wind can cause problems of deformation.
- At least one profiled section 1, 2 of horizontal panel edge receives a preferably metallic profile of inertia 3 in the form of a rectangular blade.
- each inertia profile is arranged coplanar with the transverse flange of the profile which receives it and projects on the external face of the internal lateral flange of this profile. It can also be observed that it develops perpendicularly with respect to this lateral wing.

- the longitudinal hooking shape 4 has an open hemi-cylindrical housing 40 extending over the entire length of the profile, in which the head 30 is engaged.
- the longitudinal hooking shape of each profile is formed by a longitudinal bending rooted in the groove. lateral wing and the transverse wing. In comparison with the hemi-cylindrical housing formed by this bending, the transverse wing is equipped with an end bead 41 formed along the entire length of the corresponding edge of this wing.
- This head 30 is formed by arcuate bending of a circumference of one of the two longitudinal edges of the inertial reinforcement profile 3. By its convex face, the fastening head comes against the inner face of the semi-cylindrical housing while by its concave face, the head 30 comes against the longitudinal bead 41.
- the inertia profile has a bending. Such an arrangement is intended to increase the moment of inertia of the profile.
- each hinge section 1, 2 receives at its two ends two covering elements 5 in the form of a cache for example.
- These cover elements 5 constitute abutment and laterally limit the linear displacement of the two sections 1, 2 relative to each other in a direction parallel to the axis of articulation of the hinge formed.
- the edge profiles 1 and 2 each have longitudinal recesses for receiving self-tapping screws.

- FIG 7 is shown an alternative embodiment of the hinge system according to the invention. It can be seen in this figure that the edge 15 of the second vertical flange 11 of the first section 1 is formed as a tenon and forms a first baffle element and the second vertical flange 21 has a horizontal lower edge 18 support arranged in the form of a groove, in a second baffle element, the groove shape being complementary to the tenon shape of the edge 18.
- first section 1 has a reinforcing partition 140 of the curved wing 14, this reinforcing partition 140 being rooted on the one hand to the arched wing 14 and on the other hand to the Side wing 10. It goes without saying that such a provision also applies to a first profile 1 according to Figures 1 to 6.
- the second section does not have a sealing bead 24 so that the chamber C1 is not formed. But alternatively such a profile may be provided with this bead 24 to form this chamber. It may be noted in FIGS. 1 to 7 that at least one of the profiles 1, 2 has a longitudinal shape 120, 220 of hooking nose, rooted at its transverse flange 12, 22, said shape being designed to receive in snap fastening a bead section 8 as will be described below, the inertia profile 3, as shown in Figure 7, which can be rooted to the bead section.
