一般式LiaNixCoyAlzMbO2で示されるリチウム含有層状ニッケル酸化物の粒子を含む正極を備えた非水電解質二次電池において、0.3≦a≦1.05、0.7≦x≦0.87、0.1≦y≦0.27、0.03≦z≦0.1、0≦b≦0.1、MはNi、CoおよびAlを除く金属元素から選択される少なくとも一つであり、その粒子をXPS測定した際の酸素1sスペクトルの結合エネルギーにおいて、529eVに現れるピークの面積をD、531eVに現れるピークの面積をE、酸素濃度比をD/(D+E)、粒子表面からの深さL1 nmおよびL2 nmにおける酸素濃度比をそれぞれαL1およびαL2とした場合に、(αL2−αL1)/αL2≦0.1、L1≦100、L2≧500となるL1およびL2の組み合わせが存在する。

電子機器の 激な小型軽量化に伴い その電源である 池に 対 して、 小型で軽量力ゝっ髙エネノレギ一密度 更に繰り 返 し充放 電が可能な二次電池開発への要求が高ま つてい ό。 また 汚染や二酸化炭素の増加等の環境問題によ り 、 白 車の早 期実用化が望まれてお り 、 高効率 、 1¾]出力 高エネルギ一密度
、 軽量等の特徴を有する、 優れた二次 池の開発が 望されて いる。 これ ら の要求を満たす二次電池と して 、 非水電解質を使用 し た二次電池が 用ィ匕されている。 こ の 池は 、 従来の水溶液電 解質を使用 した電池の数倍のエネルギ一密度を有 している 。 そ の例 と して、 非水電解質二次電池の正極に V チ ゥム含有層状コ バル ト酸化物 (以下 C o系化合物) 、 チ クム含有層状二 Vケル 酸化物 (以下 N i 系化合物) 又はス ピネル型 ジ チゥムマンガン 複合酸化物 (以下 M n系化合物) を用い 、 負極に リ チ ゥムが吸 蔵 · 放出可能な炭素材料な どを用いた 寿命な 4 V級非水電解 質二次電池が実用化されている 中でも N i 系化合物は、 非水電解質二次電池内で実際に使用 される電位範囲内 ( 3 . 0 〜 4 . 3 V V s . L i / L i + ) に おいて挿入脱離可能な リ チ ウム量が C o系化合物や M n系化合物以 上である特長があ り 、 資源も豊富である こ と か ら高容量かつ低 コ ス トな電池の開発を 目 指 して多く の開発がな されてきた。
日 本の特許文献である特開平 1 0 — 0 9 2 4 2 9 号公報にも 示されている よ う に、 現在までに広く 採用 されてきた C O 系化 合物 と比較 して、 N i 系ィ匕合物はも と も と合成カ 難 し < ヽ 結晶 構造が均質なも のを大量に製造する こ と は困難であつたが 、 そ の後の改良によ り 、 J o u r n a 1 o f P o w e r S o u r c e s 1 1 9 - 1 2 1 ( 2 0 0 3 ) 8 5 9 - 8 6 4 、 8
6 5 - 8 6 9 に示 される よ う に、 最近では実電池に搭載されて 優れた性能を発揮する事例も報告される よ う になつた 発明の開示
しか しなが ら、 改良が進んだ現在に いて も、 N 1 系化合物 を正極活物質に用いた電池は従来の電池 と比較 してヽ 性能にば らつきが出やすく 、 品質や信頼性に不女が残るため 、 際には 商品化 しにく い と い う 問題があつた。
のよ う な問題の原因を探るベ < 、 N i 系化合物を様々 な角 度か t> 周査した結果、 組成モル比 、 比表面積 、 P H ヽ かさ密度
、 タ ップ密度、 粒度分布 、 不純物里 、 粒子形状、 結晶 造 、 な ど一般的な品質管理項目 では捉えきれない表面性状のわずかな 差によって 、 電池性能が大き く 異なる と が明 らかになつた。 そ こで、 本発明の 目 的 とする と こ ろは、 電池性能に大き な影 響をおよ ぼす N i 系化合物粒子の表面性状を規定して、 表面状 態がその規定範囲にある化合物を非水電解質二次電池の正極活 物質に使用する こ と に よ り 、 放電容量が大き く 、 充放電サイ ク ル特性に優れた非水電解質二次電池を提供する こ と にある。
上述の 目 的を達成するために、 本発明に係る非水電解質二次 電池は、 一般式 L i a N i x C o y A 1 2 M b 0 2 で示 される リ チウム含有層状ニ ッケル酸化物の粒子を含む正極を備えた非 水電解質二次電池であって、 0 . 3 ≤ a ^ l . 0 5 、 0 . 7 ≤ ≤ 0 . 8 7 、 0 . 1 ≤ y ≤ 0 . 2 7 、 0 . 0 3 ≤ z ≤ 0 . 1 、 0 ≤ b ≤ 0 . 1 、 Mは N i 、 C o 、 および A l を除く 金属元 素から選択される少な く と も一つであ り 、 前記粒子を X P S測 定 した際の酸素 1 s スペク トルの結合エネルギーにおいて、 5 2 9 e Vに現れる ピーク の面積を D、 5 3 1 e Vに現れる ピー ク の面積を E、 酸素濃度比を D / ( D + E ) 、 粒子表面か らの 深さ L I n mおよび L 2 n mにおける酸素濃度比をそれぞれ L 1 および a L 2 と した場合に、 ( a L 2 - a L Χ ) / a L 2 ≤ 0 . 1 、 L 1 ≤ 1 0 0 , L 2 ≥ 5 0 0 と なる L I および L 2 の組み合わせが存在する。
本発明によれば、 N i 系化合物粒子全体の組成を規定して、 従来までの発明で提案されてきた改善効果を得る と と も に、 粒 子表面近傍の酸素の化学結合状態が所定の水準にある化合物を 非水電解質二次電池の正極活物質と して使用する こ と によ り 、 電解質と N i 系化合物粒子と の界面抵抗が小さ く 、 充放電の操 り 返 しによ り 抵抗が増カ卩 しにく いため、 良好な電池性能が長期 間得られ、 従来の C ο 系化合物を用いた電池よ り も放電容量や 寿命特性に優れる非水電解質二次電池を安定 して供給でき、 そ の工業的価値は高い。 図面の簡単な説明

、 こ の原因を詳し く 調 した結果 、 化合物全体の平均組成が上 記一般式で規定される範囲内にある場合でも 、 化合物表面近傍 の元素の化学結合状態は乱れている場合が多 く 、 理由 は定かで はないが、 特に酸素の結合状態のばらつきが顕著であ り 、 こ の ばらつき が電池性能のばらつき に符合 してい る こ と を明 らかに した。
そ こで、 本発明者は 、 過去に同一の条件で試作 した全ての N i 系化合物の表面分析をおこない 、 表面部分での酸素の濃度プ フ アイノレが所定の範囲に収ま る化合物を選定して 、 高容量か つ長寿命である非水 解質二次電池を得た。 以下ヽ 本発明にか かる非水電解質二次 池の具体的な実施の形態について説明す m 本発明において、 正極活物質と して用いる リ チ クム含有層状 二 ッ ケル酸化物粒子全体の組成は 、 一般式 L i a N 1 C O

ジ チウム含有層状二 ッケル酸化物粒子の 面近傍の酸素の濃 度プロ フ ァィ ル力 Sばらつ く 原因は定かではないが 原料の混合 が不十分でめつた り 原料の粒径が大さ < て 焼成後の化合物表 iaに未反応の原料残渣 (水酸化 リ チ ゥムな ど ) が付着する こ と や、 焼成後に化合物が水分や炭酸ガス を吸収 して チウム化合 物 (炭酸 リ チ ゥムな ど ) を表面に生成する と さ ら 1¾池作 時に溶剤中の水分を吸収 して リ チ ゥム化合物を生成する こ と の他に、 焼成温度が適正温度 (組成によ つて異なるが、 一般的 には 6 5 0 ~ 7 5 0 °C ) からはずれた り 、 焼成時間が短すぎる こ と によ つて生 じる と 予測される。 これ らの原因は、 N i 系化
P物の合成が も と も と難しいこ とや 晶構造自 体が不安定で ある こ と にある と 予測 される。
· - のよ に N i 系化合物の合成が難 し く 、 結晶構造が比較的 不安定でめる こ と を十分に理解 した上で 、 化合物の製造方法や 保管方法を管理 し、 さ らに完成品についても既述のよ う な品質 管理をおこなった場合でも、 製造口 ク 卜 ごと に表面性状は微妙 に異な り 化合物の表面か ら内部にかけて酸素の化学結合状態 が変化 して しま う こ と が多い。 こ の よ う な現実を理解せずに、 表面性状が規定値から はずれた化合物を正極活物質と して使用 する と 、 予想外に放電容量や寿命性能が低い電池を製造して し ま う こ と になる。 こ のよ う な事態を防ぐために、 本発明は、 非水電解質二次. 従来の リ チ ゥム含有層状ニッ ケル酸化物粒子の、 X P S の酸 素 1 s ス ぺク ト ルの例を第 1 図〜第 3 図に示す。 第 1 図は、 粒 子を一定時間アル ゴ ンエ ッ チング した後、 X p s ス ぺク ト ノレを 測定する こ と を繰 り 返 した場合の、 粒子表面からの深さ L ( n m ) と酸素 1 s ス ぺ ク トノレの関係を示 したも のである また、 第 2 図は、 粒子の表面 ( L = l n m ) における酸素 1 S ス ぺ ク ト ル、 第 3 図は表面力 らの深さ L力 S 5 0 0 n mにおける酸素 1 s ス ぺ ク トノレを示 したも のである。 なお、 第 1 図では省略 して いる が、 L = 5 0 0 n m力 ら粒子中心部までの酸素 1 S スぺク トルは変化がなかった。 なお、 リ チ ウム含有層状二 ッケル酸化 物粒子の表面にはガスや不純物がわずかに吸着 しているため、 こ こでは最表面から 1 n mエッチング した後のス ぺ ク 卜ルを真 の表面のスぺク トルと 定義 した。

本発明の正極活物質に用いる リ チ ゥム含有層状ニ ッ ケル酸化 物粒子の平均粒径 D 5 0 は : 〜 2 0 μ が好ま し く 、 と く に 9

本発明の非水電解質二次電池は、 第 6 図お ぴ第 7 図に示 さ れる よ う に 、 上述のよ う な化合物を正極活物質と して用いた正 極と負極と がセパ レータ を介 して円形状または 円形状に捲回 されてなる電極群を電池容器に収納 し、 電極群に非水電解質を 含浸 して構成されている。
第 6 図は長円筒形非水電解質二次電池の外観を示す斜視図で あ り 、 第 7 図は長円筒形非水電解質二次電池に収納された電極 群の構成を示す斜視図であ る。 第 6 図および第 7 図において、 1 は非水電解質二次電池、 2 は発電要素、 2 a は正極、 2 b は 負極、 2 c はセパ レータ、 3 は電池ケー ス 、 3 a は電池ケー ス のケー ス部、 3 b は電池ケース の晝部、 4 は正極端子、 5 は負 極端子、 6 は安全弁、 7 は電解液注入口 であ る。
こ の非水電解質二次電池に用い られる負極、 セ パ レータおよ ぴ電解質な どは、 特に従来用い られてきたも の と 異なる と こ ろ な く 、 通常用い られている ものが使用でき る。 すなわち、 本発 明の非水電解質二次電池に用いる負極材料と しては、 リ チ ウム イ オンを吸蔵 · 放出可能な種々 の炭素材料、 または金属 リ チウ ムゃ リ チ ウム合金が使用でき る。 また、 遷移金属酸化物ゃ窒化 物を使用 して も よい。
また、 本発明の非水電解質二次電池に用いるセパレータ と し ては、 ポ リ エチレン等のポ リ オレフ ィ ン樹脂から なる微多孔膜 が用い られ、 材料、 重量平均分子量ゃ空孔率の異なる複数の微 多孔膜が積層 してなる も のや、 これ らの微多孔膜に各種の可塑 剤、 酸化防止剤、 難燃剤な どの添加剤を適量含有 してい る も の であって も よい。
本発明の非水電解質二次電池に用いる電解液の有機溶媒には 、 特に制限はな く 、 例えばエーテル類、 ケ ト ン類、 ラ ク ト ン類 、 二 ト リ ル類、 ア ミ ン類、 ア ミ ド類、 硫黄化合物、 ハロ ゲン化 炭化水素類、 エ ス テル類、 カーボネー ト類、 ニ ト ロ化合物、 リ ン酸エステル系化合物、 スルホラ ン系炭化水素類等を用いる こ と ができ るが、 これらの う ちでもエーテル類、 ケ ト ン類、 エス テル類、 ラ タ ト ン類、 ハ ロ ゲ ン化炭化水素類、 カーボネー ト類 、 ス ルホラ ン系化合物が好ま しい。 これ らの例 と しては、 テ ト ラ ヒ ドロ フ ラ ン、 2 — メ チルテ 卜 ラ ヒ 口 フ ラ ン、 1 , 4 ージ ォキサン、 ァ ニ ソ ール、 モ ノ グライ ム 4 ー メ チノレー 2 —ペン タ ノ ン、 酢酸ェチル、 酢酸メ チル、 プ ピオン酸メ チル 、 プロ ピオン酸ェチル、 1 , 2 — ジク Π Π ェタ ン、 γ —プチ口 ラ ク 卜 ン、 ジメ ト キ シェタ ン、 メ チノレフ ォ ノレメ イ ト 、 ジメ チルカ ーホ ネー ト、 メ チノレェチノレカーボネ一ト 、 ジェチルカ ーボネ一ト 、 プロ ピレンカーボネー ト、 ェチ レン力一ボネー ト 、 ビ - レ ン力 ーボネー ト 、 ジメ チノレホノレムァ ミ ド'、 ジメ チノレスノレホ キシ ド、 ジメ チルチオホルム ァ ミ ド、 スノレホ ラ ン 、 3 —メ チル一 ス ノレホ ラ ン、 リ ン酸 ト リ メ チル、 リ ン酸 ト リ ェチルおよびこれら の混 合溶媒等を挙げる こ と ができ る が、 必ず しも これ らに限定され る も のではない。 好ま し く は環状カーボネー ト類および環状ヱ ステル類である。 も っ と も好ま し く は エチレンカーボネー ト 、 プロ ピ レンカーボネー ト 、 メ チルェチノレカ ーボネー ト ヽ お ck びジェチルカーボネー ト の う ち 、 種または 2種以上 した混合 物の有機溶媒である。
また、 本発明の非水電解質二次電池に用いる電解質塩と して は、 特に制限はないが、 L i C 1 O 4 、 し i B F 4 、 し i A s F 6 、 C F a S O a L i 、 L i P F 6 L i N ( C F 3 s O 2 ) 2 、 L i N ( C 2 F 5 S O 2 ) 2 、 L i I 、 L i A 1 C 1 4 等およびそれ らの混合物が挙げ 'られる 好ま し く は、 L i B F 4 、 L i P F 6 の う ち、 1 種または 2種以上を混合 した リ チウ ム塩がよい。
また、 上記電解質には捕助的に固体のイ オン導伝性ポ リマー 電解質を用いる こ と もでき る。 の場合、 非水電解質二次電池 の構成と しては、 正極、 負極およびセパ レ一タ と 有機または無 機の固体電解質と上記非水電解液と の組み合わせ、 または正極
、 負極およびセ ノ レータ と しての有機または無機の固体電解質 膜と 上記非水電解液と の組み合わせ力 sあげられる。 ポ リ マー電 解質膜がポ リ エチ レ ンォキシ ドヽ ポ リ ア ク ロ ニ ト リ ルまたは ポ リ ェチ レング リ コールおよびこれ らの変成体な どの場合には 量で柔軟性があ り 、 卷回極板に使用する場合に有利である
。 さ らに 、 ホ リ マ ー電解質以外にも、 無機固体電解質ある いは 有機ポ リ マ一電解質と 無機固体 解質と の混合材料な どを使用 する こ と ができ る。
その他の電池の構成要素 と して 、 集電体 、 端ナ、 E縁板、 電 池ケース等がある が、 これ らの部品につレ、て も従来用い られて きたものをそのまま用いて差し支えない 実施例
以下に、 本発明の実施例 1 〜 4および比較例 1 3 につい 説明す
[ 施例 1 ]
[ リ チウム含有層状ニ ッ ケル酸化物粒子の作 ]
硫酸ニ ッゲノレ ヽ 硫酸コ ノ ル ト を所定の配合比で溶解 し、 さ に十分に攪拌させな力 S ら水酸化ナ 卜 リ ウ ム溶液を加 てニ ッ ル-コバル ト複合共沈水酸化物を得た。 生成 した共沈物を水洗 、 乾燥し、 水酸化アルミ ニ ウム と十分に混合 した後に水酸化 リ チ ウ ム一水和塩を加 X. ヽ V チウム と ニ V ケル + コ ノ ノレ ト +了ノレ ミ ニ ゥムの モ ノレ比が 1 0 5 : 1 と なる よ う に調整 して前駆体 を作製 した。
次に、 こ の前駆体を酸素雰囲気中、 7 0 0 °Cで 2 0 時間焼成 し、 室温まで冷却 した後に乾燥アルゴンガス中で取 り 出 して粉 砕 し、 組成式 L i 1 0 3 N i 0 . 8 5 C O 0 . 1 2 1 0 .
0 3 O 2 で表される ジ チゥム 有層状二 Vケノレ酸化物粒子を得 た。 なお、 得られた チゥム 'S有層状二 Vケノレ酸化物粒子はデ シケーター中で、 0 1 a t mの大気中に 3 か月 保管 した。 得 られた リ チウム含有層状二 ッ ケル酸ィ匕物粒子の平均組成は、 I
C P発光分光法で分析 して求めた。 また 末 X線回折では、 未反応の水酸化物やァルへ ン酸リ チウム等の不純物の ピーク は 認め られなかった。
また、 得られた リ チゥム 有層状二 ケル酸化物粒子の、 レ 一ザ一回折 · 散乱法にて求めた平均粒径 D 5 0 は 9 . 5 μ m 、 粒径範囲は 1 5 μ mであ り 、 窒素ガス吸着法で測定した B E T 比表面積は 0 . 3 5 2 / g であった o
次に、 得られた リ チゥム含有層状二 V ケル酸化物粒子の表面 性状を検査するためヽ ァルゴンイ オ ン工 Vチングを併用 した X 線光電子分光法 ( X P s ) で化合物表面から内部にかけて深さ 方向の定性分析をお なつた。
分析は以下の手順で - なった。 まず 、 露点一 5 0 °C以下の ドライルーム中で、 X線光電子分光法用のサンプノレステージ上 に貼 り つけた導電性力 ボ ンテープ上に チゥム含有層状ニ ッ ケル酸化物粒子をまぶ し、 その上に清浄の表面を有するス テ ン レ ス板を載せて油圧プレス器で適度に圧迫 し、 目 視上、 平 らで 密なサ ンプルを作製した。
次に、 上記サンプルを、 ト ラ ンス フ ァ一ベッセノレを用いて大 気に触れないよ う に X線光電子分光装置内に装着 した X線光 電子分光法の分析範囲径は 1 0 0 μ m φ と したためヽ 得られる スぺク 卜ノレは数十個の化合物粒子のからの平均値と なる力 s、 同 一の化合物を用いて分析サンプノレの準備から X線光 子分光測 定ま での作業を数十回繰り 返 しても 、 得られる情報に誤差は生 じなかつた
なお、 リ チウム含有層状ニッ ケノレ酸化物粒子の最表面にはガ スや不純物がわずかに吸着 しているため、 こ こでは取

なお、 一連の リ チゥム含有層状二 ッケル酸化物粒子について の表面分析は、 上記の よ う に粉体を凝集圧迫 した平板について おこ なったが、 リ チゥム含有層状ニ ッケル酸化物粒子をァセチ レ ンプラ ッ ク 、 ポ フ ッィ匕 ビ二 ジ デンと混合 して平板上に塗布 し 、 圧迫成形 した極板について 様の分析をおこ なつても 、 ァ セチ レンプラ ッ クやポ リ フ ッ化 ビ二 リ デン中には酸素が含まれ ないため、 リ チウム 3有層状二 -yケル酸化物粒子表面の特疋お よぴ表面での酸素の化学結合状態の定性には支障をも た ら さな い 。 つま り 、 極板について も同様の分析が可能である 得られた リ チウム含有層状ニ ッ ケル酸化物粒子の酸素 1 s ス ベク トルを第 4 図に示す。 第 4 図力 ら、 表面 ( L = l n m ) に おける酸素 1 s スペク ト ルも 、 表面力 ら L = 5 0 0 n mの深さ における酸素 1 s スペク ト ルも 、 共に D > E と なってお り 、 表 面か らの深さ に関係な く 、 粒子のあ らゆる場所で吸着 した酸素 濃度よ り も結晶中に含まれる酸素濃度の方が大きいこ と を示 し ている。 なお、 5 O O n mよ り 内部では酸素濃度比の変動は見 られな力、つた。
[試験電池の作製]
正極は、 上記リ チウム含有層状ニ ッケル酸化物粒子 8 7 重量 %、 アセチ レ ンブラ ッ ク 5 重量%、 ポ リ フ ツイ匕ビニ リ デン ( P V d F ) 8 重量%を混合 し、 これに含水量 5 O p p m以下の N —メ チル一 2 — ピロ リ ド ン (以下 「 N M P」 とする) をカ卩えて ペース ト状と し、 さ らにアルミ ニ ウ ム箔上に塗布、 乾燥して正 極合材層 を形成させて作製 した。 負極は、 炭素材料 (グラ フ アイ ト) と P V d F と を混合 し、 これに N M P をカ卩えてペース ト状 と し、 さ らに銅箔上に塗布、 乾燥して負極合材層を形成さ せて作製 した。
こ のよ う に して作製 した帯状の正極と負極と を第 2 図に示す よ う に、 セパ レータ を介 して長円形状に捲回 して電極群を構成 した後、 こ の電極群を長円筒形の有底アルミ ニ ゥム容器に挿入 し、 さ ら に、 電極群の巻芯部に充填物をつめた後、 電解液を注 入 し、 レーザー溶接にて容器と 盞と を封口溶接した。 なお、 ぺ ース ト作製か ら電極加工、 電池組立に至る全ての工程は露点 5 0 °C以下の乾燥環境下でおこなつた
[特性試験] こ の試験電池を、 1 C Aの電流で 4 . 2 Vの電圧まで充電 し た後、 1 C Aの電流で 3 . 0 V の 圧まで放電した と き の放電 容量を測定し、 正極活物質 1 g 当た り の初期放電容量を算定し た。
次に、 こ の試験電池を同 じ充放 条件で 3 0 0 サイ クル充放 電した後の放電容量を求め、 サィ ク ル後容量保持率を算定 した
。 なお、 こ こ で 「サイ ク ル後容里保持率 (% ) 」 と は、 3 0 0 サイ ク ル後の放電容量を初期放 容量で除 した値と した。 さ らに、 充放電サイ クノレ試験に供 した電池と 同時に作製 した 別の電池で保存特性を比較 した 1 C Aの電流で 4 . 2 Vの電 圧まで充電 した後、 1 C Aの電流で 3 . 0 Vまで放電する充放 電を初期に 3 回繰り 返 し、 3 回 目 の放電容量を初期放電容量と した。 次に、 1 C Aの電流で 4 2 Vの電圧まで再度充電 した 後、 電池を 6 0 °Cの環境下で 1 0 曰 間保存 し 、 保存後も初期 と 同様の充放電条件で 3 回充放電を繰 り 返 し、 3 回 目 の放電容量 を保存後放電容量と し 、 保存後容量保持率を 疋 した。 な 、 こ こ で 「保存後容量保持率 (% ) J と は、 保存後放電容量を初 期放電容量で除 した値と した。
[実施例 2 ]
施例 1 と 同 に して前駆体を作 し 、 こ の刖駆体を、 酸秦 雰囲気中、 7 0 0 。Cで 2 0 時間焼成 しヽ よで冷却 した後に 乾燥ァルゴンガス中で取り 出 して粉砕し 、 組成式 L i 1 - 0 3 N i o . 8 5 C O o . ! 2 A 1 o . 。 3 0 2 で表される リ チウ ム含有層状ニ ッケル酸化物粒子を得た。 得られた リ チウム含有 層状ニ ッ ケル酸化物粒子はデシケーター中で、 真空中に 1 か月 保管 した。 そ して、 実施例 1 と 同様に して、 X P S測定や電池 特性測定を行った。
[実施例 3 ]
前駆体を、 酸素雰囲気中、 7 0 0 °Cで 5 時間焼成 したこ と以 外は実施例 2 と 同様に して、 組成式 L i i . 。 3 N i 。 . 8 5 C o 。 . 1 2 A 1 。 . 。 3 0 2 で表される リ チウ ム含有層状 - ッケル酸化物粒子を得た。 そ して、 実施例 1 と 同様の条件で、 保管と X P S測定や電池特性測定を行った。
[実施例 4 ]
前駆体を、 酸素雰囲気中、 6 5 0 °Cで 2 0 時間焼成 したこ と 以外は実施例 2 と 同様に して、 組成式 L i . 0 a N i 。 . 8 5 C o 。 . 1 2 A 1 。 . 。 3 0 2 で表される リ チ ウム含有層状 ニッ ケル酸化物粒子を得た。 そ して、 実施例 1 と 同様の条件で 、 保管と X P S測定や電池特性測定を行った。
[比較例 1 ]
前駆体を、 実施例 2 と 同 じ条件で焼成および粉砕して、 組成

、 それは酸素の化学結合状態が規定範囲にあるか否かで判断で き る こ と がわかった。 本発明 を詳細にまた特定の実施態様を参照 して説明 したが、 本発明の精神 と範囲を逸脱する こ と な く 様々 な変更や修正を加 える こ と ができ る こ と は当業者に と って明 らかである。

1 . 一般式 L a i x C o y A 1 z M b O 2 で示 され る リ チウム含有層状二 ッ ケル酸化物の粒子を含む正極を備えた 非水電解質二次電池において 、
0 . 3 ≤ a ≤ 1 0 5 、 0 . 7 ≤ x ≤ 0 . 8 7 、 0 . 1 ≤ y ≤ 0 . 2 7 、 0 . 0 3 ≤ z ≤ 0 . 1 、 0 ≤ b ≤ 0 . 1 、 Mは
N i 、 c o および A 1 を除く 金属元素か ら選択される少な く と も一つであ り 、
-ヽ- 刖 afi粒子を X P S測定した際の酸素 1 s スぺ ク ト ルの結合 ェネルギ一において 5 2 9 e Vに現れる ピー ク の面積を D、
5 3 1 e Vに現れる ピ一ク の面積を E、 酸素濃度比を D Z ( D

4 . 請求項 3 に記載の非水電解質二次電池において、 前記 粒子の平均粒径 D 5 。が 9 〜 1 0 μ πιである。
5 . 請求項 1 に記載の非水電解質二次電池において、 前記 粒子の B E T比表面積が 0 . 1 〜 : L m 2 / g である。
6 . 請求項 5 に記載の非水電解質二次電池において、 前記 粒子の B E T比表面積が 0 . 3 〜 0 . 4 m 2 Z g であ る。
7 . 請求項 1 に記載の非水電解質二次電池において、
― 0 . 1 ¾ a / ct L 2 = 0 . 1 、 L 1 1 0 0 、 L 2 5 0 0 と なる L 1 および L 2 の組み合わせが存 在する。
8 . 請求項 7 に記載の非水電解質二次電池において、
0 ≤ { a 2 ~ a h ! ) / a L 2 ≤ 0 . 1 、 L 1 ≤ 1 0 0 、 L 2 ≥ 5 0 0 と なる L 1 および L 2 の組み合わせが存在する
