Abstract

 光反射部材を移動させて光導波路同士の結合状態を切り換えるタイプの光スイッチ装置において、光反射部材が搭載された可動体の位置ずれを確実に防止でき、かつ、光スイッチ装置の薄型化を実現可能な構成を提供する。そのために、光スイッチ装置(1)は、プリズムミラー(10)を搭載した可動体(2)をクランプ状態およびアンクランプ状態に切り換える押圧部材(41)と、押圧部材をクランプ方向に付勢するねじりばね(60)と、ねじりばね(60)に抗して押圧部材(41)をアンクランプ状態に駆動するクランプ用磁気駆動回路(45)とを有している。このクランプ用磁気駆動回路(45)は、固定部材(13)側のクランプ用コイル(72)と、押圧部材(41)側のクランプ用マグネット(70、71)とを有し、クランプ用マグネット(70、71)は、異なる極を対向させてクランプ用コイル(72)を開口内と開口外で挟むように配置されている。

光スィッチ装置
技術分野
[0001] 本発明は、光ファイバの交換機に用いられる光導波路切り換え装置、あるいは光入 力を適宜減衰させるための可変光減衰器として用いられる光スィッチ装置に関するも のである。さらに詳しくは、光の出射位置を切り換える光反射部材を搭載した可動体 に対するクランプ技術に関するものである。
背景技術
[0002] 光ファイバなどの光導波路同士の結合状態を切り換える光スィッチ装置としては、 光ファイバの熱による屈折率変動を利用する光導波路タイプのもの、半導体プロセス によるマイクロ光学素子とマイクロアクチユエータを利用する MEMS(Micro Electr o Mechanical System)タイプのものが知られている (例えば、特許文献 1)。
[0003] 前者の光導波路タイプの光導波路切り換え装置は、光導波路ファイバの結合や分 岐による光学的なロスが大きい。また、光導波路を切り換え後の状態を保持するため に、常時ヒータに電力を供給しておく必要があり、装置の寿命が比較的短い。また、 MEMSタイプの光スィッチは半導体プロセスを利用するために製造コストが高いとい う問題がある。
[0004] そこで、共通の入力用光導波路と複数の出力用光導波路が配列されている光ファ ィバアレイに直角プリズムミラーを正対させ、光ファイバが並んでいる方向に直角プリ ズムミラーを移動させることにより、光導波路同士の結合状態を切り換えるものが案出 されている。このようなタイプの光スィッチ装置は、例えば、直角プリズムミラーを搭載 した可動体と、この可動体を光ファイバが並んでいる左右方向、および上下方向に移 動可能にワイヤで支持する固定側部材とを有しており、可動体が、磁気駆動回路に よって駆動制御されることにより、所望の位置に移動することにより光導波路を切り換 える。
[0005] 但し、直角プリズムミラーを移動させて光導波路同士の結合状態を切り換えるタイプ の光スィッチ装置は、直角プリズムミラーの位置によって光スィッチ装置から出射する 光軸が連続的に移動するため、直角プリズムミラーの停止位置を高い精度で制御し ても、外部からの振動などによって直角プリズムミラーがわずかに変位してしまうだけ でも、入力用光導波路と所望の出力用光導波路との結合状態が変動するという問題 力 Sある。
[0006] そこで、ばねで付勢された押圧部材によって可動体を固定側部材に向けて押し付 け固定するクランプ機構を設けることにより、可動体の位置ずれを防止する構成が検 討されている。この場合、押圧部材を鉄系素材で形成する一方、固定側部材にソレノ イドを配置しておき、押圧部材をソレノイドにより吸引してばねの付勢力に抗して押圧 部材を浮かせることにより可動体を移動可能にしている。

発明の開示
発明が解決しょうとする課題
[0007] し力、しながら、ソレノイドを利用したクランプ機構では、ソレノイドが発生する磁束の みで押圧部材を吸引するので、吸引力が小さい。従って、押圧部材を固定側部材に 向って付勢するばねの付勢力を大きくすると、ソレノイドを作動させても可動体を押圧 部材から開放することができなくなる。そのため、押圧部材を強い付勢力を有するば ねで固定部材に押し付け固定することができず、可動体の位置ずれを確実に防止す ることができないとレ、う問題がある。
[0008] また、ソレノイドを利用したクランプ機構では、押圧部材のソレノイドに対向する位置 に永久磁石を配置して磁気駆動力を増大することが考えられる。し力しながら、このよ うな構成の場合には、ソレノイドと永久磁石が高さ方向で重なってしまうため、光スイツ チ装置の高さ方向の寸法が増加してしまうという問題がある。また、永久磁石をこのよ うに配置した場合には、磁気回路が閉じてレ、なレ、オープンフラックス状態での使用に なるため、多大なスペースを占有する割には、十分な磁気吸引力が得られず、スぺ ース効率が悪いという問題がある。
[0009] 以上の問題に鑑みて、本発明は、光反射部材を移動させて光導波路同士の結合 状態を切り換えるタイプの光スィッチ装置において、光反射部材が搭載された可動 体の位置ずれを確実に防止でき、かつ、光スィッチ装置の薄型化を実現可能な構成 を提供することにある。
課題を解決するための手段
[0010] 上記課題を解決するために、本発明では、互いに直交する方向をそれぞれ X方向 、 Y方向、および Z方向としたときに、 Z方向から入射してきた光を反射して X方向に ずれた所定位置から出射するための光反射部材が搭載された可動体と、該可動体 を X方向および Y方向に移動可能に支持する固定側部材と、前記可動体を X方向お よび Y方向に駆動する駆動手段とを有する光スィッチ装置において、前記可動体を 前記固定側部材に押し付け固定したクランプ状態、および前記可動体を解放したァ ンクランプ状態に切り換える押圧部材と、該押圧部材を駆動するクランプ用磁気駆動 回路とを備えたクランプ機構を有し、前記クランプ用磁気駆動回路は、前記押圧部材 あるいは前記固定側部材のいずれか一方側部材に配置されたクランプ用コイル、他 方側部材に配置され、前記クランプ用コイルに鎖交する磁束を発生させるクランプ用 マグネットとを備えてレ、ることを特徴とする。

発明の効果
[0014] 本発明の光スィッチ装置では、可動体をクランプ状態およびアンクランプ状態に切 り換える押圧部材を駆動するために、クランプ用コィノレ、およびクランプ用コイルに鎖 交する磁束を発生させるクランプ用マグネットを備えたクランプ用磁気駆動回路を用 いているので、クランプ用コイルとクランプ用マグネットについては、装置の高さ方向 で重ねる必要がない。従って、光スィッチ装置の薄型化を図ることができる。また、大 きな磁気駆動力を得ることができるため、押圧部材のクランプあるいはアンクランプへ の切り換えを確実に行うことができる。
発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0015] 以下に、図面を参照して、本発明を適用した光スィッチ装置を説明する。
[0016] (光スィッチ装置の基本原理)
図 1は、本発明の光スィッチ装置の基本原理を模式的に示す説明図である。なお、 以下の説明では、互いに直交する方向をそれぞれ、 X方向、 Y方向、および Z方向と して説明する。
[0017] 図 1において、光スィッチ装置 1は、 Z方向に延びた 1本の入力側光ファイバ 20、お よび 8本の出力側光ファイバ 21が X方向に沿って並列配置された 8チャンネルの光ス イッチ装置であり、入力側光ファイバ 20から出力された光を 8本の出力側光ファイバ 2 1のいずれかに導くことができる。ここで、入力側光ファイバ 20と出力側光ファイバ 21 とからなる光ファイバアレイ 3は、光ファイバが、 X方向で 250 mのピッチで等間隔に 並んでいる。
[0018] 本形態の光スィッチ装置 1では、 Z方向から入射してきた光を反射して X方向にず れた所定位置から Z方向に向けて出射するための光反射部材として、 X方向に駆動 されるプリズムミラー 10が用いられている。プリズムミラー 10は、光が Z方向から入出 射する斜面 101、この斜面 101から入射してきた光を X方向に反射する第 1の反射面 102、およびこの第 1の反射面 102に対して直交し、第 1の反射面 102から反射して きた光を斜面 101に向けて反射する第 2の反射面 103を備えた直角プリズムであり、 斜面 101(開口側)は光ファイバアレイ 3に向けて正対している。また、入力側光フアイ バ 20から出射された光は、プリズムミラー 10に入射する前に、コリメートレンズ 22によ り、コリメートな光となっている。なお、図示を省略するが、 8本の出力側光ファイバ 21 と、プリズムミラー 10の斜面 101との間にもコリメートレンズが配置されている。
[0019] このように構成した光スィッチ装置 1において、例えば、プリズムミラー 10が実線で 示す位置に固定されているとする。この状態では、入力側光ファイバ 20から出射され た光は、プリズムミラー 10に入射し、プリズムミラー 10内の第 1の斜面 102と第 2の斜 面 103をそれぞれ 90度で反射する光路 L1の経路を迪り、出力側光ファイバ 21の最 右端にある出力側光ファイバ 21aに導かれる。

[0023] 図 2および図 3に示すように、本発明の光スィッチ装置 1は、偏平な略直方体形状を 有しており、光スィッチ装置 1の上側は、プリズムミラー 10が搭載された可動体 2を付 勢する押圧部材 41により覆われている。光スィッチ装置 1の前半分には、図 1に示し た原理を用いた光スィッチ本体 100が搭載されている。光スィッチ装置 1の後半分に は、光スィッチ装置 1の上側を覆う押圧部材 41とともにクランプ機構 40を構成するク ランプ用磁気駆動回路 45が搭載されている。光スィッチ装置 1の中央位置の左右両 側には、固定側部材 13の底板 14から支柱 47、 48が立ち上がり、支柱 47、 48の端 部には、押圧部材 41の揺動支点 50、 51が設けられている。

図 2、図 3および図 4に示すように、光スィッチ装置 1の前半分において、光スィッチ 本体 100は、点線で示すプリズムミラー 10が搭載された可動体 2と、この可動体 2を、 X、 Y方向に移動可能にサスペンションワイヤ 4で支持する固定側部材 13と、可動体 2を X、 Y方向に駆動する磁気駆動回路とを有している。

6に示すように、クランプ用マグネット 70、 71、およびクランプ用ヨーク 75は、矢印 Q で示すように、クランプ用コイル 72のコイル辺 72aと鎖交する磁束を発生させ、かつ、 この磁界は閉塞している。従って、クランプ機構 40において、クランプ用コイル 72に 通電していない状態では、押圧部材 41の後端部は、矢印 F1で示すように、ねじりば ね 76によって上方に押し上げられる結果、押圧部材 41の前端部は、可動体 2を下方 に押し付けているが (クランプ状態)、クランプ用コイル 72に通電すると、クランプ用磁 気駆動回路 45によって、押圧部材 41の後端部は、矢印 F2で示すように、ねじりばね 76に抗して押し下げられる。その結果、押圧部材 41の前端部は浮き上がり、可動体
2の下方への押し付け固定が解除される (アンクランプ状態)。

図 7は、光スィッチ装置において光導波路を切り換える動作を行う際、可動体と固 定側部材との位置関係などを示す説明図である。
[0044] 図 7(a)に示すように、初期の固定位置では、可動体 2は、押圧部材 41により固定側 部材 13に向けて付勢され、固定されたクランプ状態にある。プリズムミラー搭載部 11 の下面 11aおよび固定部 15の上面 15aに形成された V字溝 30、 31は係合した状態 にある。
[0045] この状態から、光導波路を切り換える動作を行うには、まず、クランプ用コイル 72に 通電する。また、同時に可動体 2を Y方向に浮上させる。その結果、図 7(b)に示すよう に、押圧部材 41は、ねじりばね 60の付勢力に抗して、前端部が浮き上がるように揺 動支点 50、 51を中心に揺動し、押圧部材 41の先端に位置する押圧突起 44が可動 体 2から浮き上がる。
[0046] 次に、駆動コイル 6に通電して、図 7(c)に示すように、可動体 2を X方向に移動させ る。そして、可動体 2が X方向の所望の位置まで移動してきたとき、図 7(d)のように、 駆動コイル 5への通電を停止して、サスペンションワイヤ 4の弾性復帰力によって、可 動体 2を Y方向下方に沈み込ませる。
[0047] 次に、クランプ用コイル 72への通電を停止する。その結果、図 7(d)に示すように、押 圧部材 41は、ねじりばね 60の付勢力によって、可動体 2を Y方向下方に付勢して固 定側部材 13に押し付け固定したクランプ状態になる。その際、図 7(e)に示すように可 動体 2に形成された V字溝 30と、固定側部材 13に形成された V字溝 31が嚙み合い 、可動体 2は、 X方向に位置決めされる。
[0048] しかる後に、駆動コイル 6への通電を停止する。これにより、光導波路の切り換え動 作が完了する。従って、入射側光ファイバ 20からプリズムミラー 10に入射した光は、 プリズムミラー 10を介して、所定の出力側光ファイバ 21に出射されることになる。

本形態の光スィッチ装置 1は、プリズムミラー 10を搭載した可動体 2を付勢して固定 する押圧部材 41を駆動するために、クランプ用コイル 72とクランプ用マグネット 70、 7 1とからなるクランプ用磁気駆動回路 45を用いている。クランプ用磁気駆動回路 45は 、ソレノイドを利用したクランプ機構と比較して大きな磁気駆動力を得ることができるの で、可動体 2のクランプ状態あるいはアンクランプ状態への切り換えを確実に行うこと ができる。
[0050] また、本形態では、クランプ用磁気駆動回路 45を構成するクランプ用コイル 72が押 圧部材 41に向けて開口するように卷回され、クランプ用マグネット 70、 71は、押圧部 材 41から底板 14に向けて突き出て、クランプ用コイル 72を開口 72eの内と外で挟む ように配置されている。このため、クランプ用コイル 72とクランプ用マグネット 70、 71が 装置の高さ方向で一切、重なる必要がないので、光スィッチ装置 1の薄型化を図るこ とができる。
[0051] さらに、本形態のクランプ機構 40は、クランプ用コイル 72の開口内、および開口外 の各々においてクランプ用マグネット 70、 71の背後に位置するクランプ用ヨーク 75を 備えているため、クランプ用マグネット 70、 71からの漏れ磁束を低く抑えることができ る。従って、クランプ用マグネット 70、 71の磁束を有効に利用することができ、大きな 磁気駆動力を得ることができる。
[0052] また、クランプ機構 40においては、押圧部材 41のクランプ状態をねじりばね 60の 付勢力で実現し、クランプ用磁気駆動回路 45は、ねじりばね 60の付勢力に抗して押 圧部材 41をアンクランプ状態に切り換える。従って、可動体 2を移動させる期間のみ 通電すればよいので、消費電力を低く抑えることができる。
[0053] 本形態では、押圧部材 41が、光スィッチ本体 100の上面と側面を覆う筐体を兼ね ている。従って、別に光スィッチ装置 1を覆う筐体が必要ない。そのため、押圧部材 4 1を可動体 2の Y方向の上方に配置していても、光スィッチ装置 1の薄型化を妨げな レ、。
[0054] さらに、本形態では、クランプ用駆動回路 45を構成するクランプ用ヨーク 75の底壁 75cが、固定側部材 13の底板 14に形成された切欠き 73内に収納されている。その ため、クランプ用ヨーク 75が底壁 75cを有していても、固定側部材 13の底板 14とクラ ンプ用ヨーク 75の底板 75cが Y方向で重なることがなぐ光スィッチ装置 1の薄型化を 妨げない。

[0056] 図 8(a)に示す形態では、クランプ用コイル 72の長辺 72a、 72bのそれぞれの辺を、 クランプ用コイル 72の開口 72eの内と外で挟むように 4つのクランプ用マグネット 80、 81、 82、 83を配置した構成であり、クランプ用マグネット 80、 81は互いに異なる極を 対向させ、クランプ用マグネット 82、 83も、互いに異なる極を対向させている。
[0057] また、図 8(b)に示す形態でも、クランプ用コイル 72の長辺 72a、 72bのそれぞれの 辺を、クランプ用コイル 72の開口 72eの内と外で挟むように 3つのクランプ用マグネッ ト 80、 83、 84を配置した構成であり、クランプ用マグネット 80、 84は互いに異なる極 を対向させ、クランプ用マグネット 84、 83も、互いに異なる極を対向させている。
[0058] このように構成した場合も、図 8(c)、(d)に示すように、クランプ用ヨーク 91、 92、 93 によって、各クランプ用マグネット 80— 84の背後にバックヨークを配置することが好ま しい。
[0059] なお、上記のいずれの形態においても、クランプ機構 40は、押圧部材 41をクランプ 状態に付勢するねじりばね 60を備え、クランプ用磁気駆動回路 45は、ねじりばね 60 の付勢力に抗して押圧部材 41を駆動する構成であつたが、それとは逆に、ねじりば ね 60が押圧部材 41をアンクランプ状態に付勢し、クランプ用磁気駆動回路 45は、ね じりばね 60の付勢力に抗して押圧部材 41をアンクランプ状態からクランプ状態に移 行させる構成であってもよい。
[0060] また、クランプ機構 40において、ねじりばね 60を用いず、クランプ用磁気駆動回路 45によって、押圧部材 41をクランプ状態とアンクランプ状態とに切り換える構成であ つてもよい。
産業上の利用可能性
[0061] 本発明では、光スィッチ装置において、光反射部材を搭載した可動体をクランプ状 態およびアンクランプ状態に切り換える押圧部材を駆動するために、クランプ用コィ ノレ、およびクランプ用コイルに鎖交する磁束を発生させるクランプ用マグネットを備え たクランプ用磁気駆動回路を用いている。このため、クランプ用コイルとクランプ用マ グネットについては、装置の高さ方向で重なる必要がない。従って、光スィッチ装置 の薄型化を図ることができる。また、ソレノイドを利用したクランプ機構と比較して、大 きな磁気駆動力を得ることができるため、可動体に対するクランプあるいはアンクラン プの切り換えを確実に行うことができる。

Claims

請求の範囲
[1] 互いに直交する方向をそれぞれ X方向、 Y方向、および Z方向としたときに、
Z方向から入射してきた光を反射して X方向にずれた所定位置から出射するための 光反射部材が搭載された可動体と、該可動体を X方向および Y方向に移動可能に 支持する固定側部材と、前記可動体を X方向および Y方向に駆動する駆動手段とを 有する光スィッチ装置にぉレ、て、
前記可動体を前記固定側部材に押し付け固定したクランプ状態、および前記可動 体を解放したアンクランプ状態に切り換える押圧部材と、該押圧部材を駆動するクラ ンプ用磁気駆動回路とを備えたクランプ機構を有し、
前記クランプ用磁気駆動回路は、前記押圧部材あるいは前記固定側部材のレヽず れか一方側部材に配置されたクランプ用コイル、他方側部材に配置され、前記クラン プ用コイルに鎖交する磁束を発生させるクランプ用マグネットとを備えていることを特 徴とする光スィッチ装置。
[2] 請求項 1において、前記クランプ用コイルは、前記他方側部材に向けて開口するよ うに卷回され、
前記クランプ用マグネットは、前記他方側部材から前記一方側部材に向けて突き出 たマグネット対を備え、
前記マグネット対は、異なる極を対向させて前記クランプ用コイルを開口内と開口 外で挟むように配置されてレ、ることを特徴とする光スィッチ装置。
[3] 請求項 2において、前記クランプ機構は、前記クランプ用コイルの開口内、および 開口外の各々において前記マグネット対の背後に位置するバックヨークを備えている ことを特徴とする光スィッチ装置。
[4] 請求項 1ないし 3のいずれかにおいて、前記クランプ機構は、前記押圧部材を前記 クランプ状態あるいは前記アンクランプ状態に付勢する付勢部材を備え、
前記クランプ用磁気駆動回路は、前記付勢部材の付勢力に抗して前記押圧部材 を駆動可能であることを特徴とする光スィッチ装置。
