Definitions

  • the invention relates to a side window for a motor vehicle, which is formed from plastic.
  • Multi-layer plastic panes are used in particular as armored glazing on armored vehicles.
  • plastic panes Due to the significantly low specific weight of plastic compared to glass, plastic panes would have considerable advantages over glass panes for motor vehicles.
  • the light plastic glazing would lead to considerable weight savings on the motor vehicle, as a result of which not only the fuel consumption of the motor vehicle can be reduced, but also the mechanical elements connected to the panes, such as window regulators and the like, could be made simpler and cheaper.
  • plastic panes have hardly found their way into series-produced vehicles. There are many reasons for this.
  • a main reason for the previously very low acceptance of plastic panes compared to glass panes is that only existing glass panes have been replaced with the previous plastic panes are.
  • the function of the previously used plastic panes is impaired due to the lower strength of plastic than glass.
  • With thin-walled plastic glazing it is often not possible to open and close it at high speed, since the windscreen deforms due to the wind.
  • the invention is therefore based on the object of providing a side window for a motor vehicle which is formed from plastic and has sufficient strength for driving at higher speeds.
  • the side window according to the invention is provided with a reinforcing means on a rear or upper boundary edge.
  • plastic material allows completely new ways of design compared to glass, since plastic profiles can be integrally formed on the pane, which significantly increases the strength of the pane.
  • plastic panes can be provided with frames in the area of the boundary edges, which act in a corresponding manner as stiffening means.
  • a combination of a profile and a frame is also possible.
  • Such a design of a side window represents a completely new design principle for motor vehicles, since so far only plane-parallel glazing with a low curvature has been used.
  • the side windows according to the invention can be designed as lifting disks, wherein the stiffening means can additionally function as a guide means in a vertical guide rail.
  • the side window is at its lower boundary edge with a receiving device for a lifting device by means of a screw connection, adhesive connection, clamp connection, plug connection, Welded connection, snap-in connection, riveted connection, crimped connection or snap connection.
  • a plug connection is particularly advantageous since the receptacle and the lower boundary edge of the side window can be designed with corresponding profiles, so that the receptacle is fixed with respect to the side window in the longitudinal direction of the boundary edge, but is fixed transversely to it.
  • Such a connection mechanism between the receptacle and the side window represents an independent inventive concept.
  • the side window is designed as an opening window which is articulated to the motor vehicle on a vertical boundary edge with a swivel joint, the side window having an engagement element on at least one of the further boundary edges, on which a corresponding input arranged on the motor vehicle handle device for fixing a certain position of the side window can engage.
  • Such an engagement device ensures the spatial fixation of a side window made of plastic. This ensures that the side window cannot be moved out of its position by the airstream or that it stands out from the edges of the motor vehicle against which it lies, which can happen due to the high elasticity of plastic in a conventional type of fastening of a display window.
  • the engagement device is designed such that it can also be used to fix an opening position of the side window. From such a display window, it is known that at high driving speeds in an opening position, air vibrations at the gap between the window and the Vehicle that can deform the window. By fixing the pane in the deployed position by means of the engagement device, oscillation or deformation of the side pane is reliably avoided.
  • the engagement device and the corresponding recesses in the side window can advantageously be further developed such that the engagement of the engagement device in the recesses moves the side window into its closed position.
  • no additional motor-operated adjusting elements are required to open the side window. All that is needed here is one or more spring elements which move the side window in its deployed position when the engagement device is released.

If the engaging rod were first moved upwards with the end removed from the hinges 73, this could result in the fact that, due to the exposed position of the side window, no engagement between the groove and the engaging rod 83 is possible or jamming occurs, which further actuation is not permitted. If, on the other hand, the intervention is first carried out in the adjacent area of the hinges 73, the side window is gradually pulled up and fixed on the side wall of the vehicle.
