Abstract

Es wird eine Einrichtung zur Verminderung der Verletzungsgefahr des Fuß- und Beinbereiches einer auf einem im Inneren eines Fahrzeugs angeordneten Sitz sitzenden Person für den Fall einer unfallbedingten Verformung des Fußraumes beschrieben, der mit einem Bodenbelag (19) ausgekleidet ist, welcher aus einer akustikdämpfenden Schicht (22) und einem darauf liegenden Teppich (23) besteht. Die Einrichtung weist ein dem Fußraum zugeordnetes Fußpolster (24) auf, in das wenigtens ein diesem zugeordneter Gasgenerator (20) auf ein Auslösesignal hin schlagartig Gas einleitet, wobei das Fußpolster (24) den betreffenden Fußraum kurzzeitig in vorgegebenem Maß ausfüllt, bevor die Spritzwand in das Fahrzeuginnere intrudiert. Vorliegend wird das Fußpolster (24) gebildet zwischen der akustikdämpfenden Schicht (22) und dem Teppich (23) des Bodenbelages (19), wobei das Gas vom Gasgenerator (10) in dem Raum zwischen der akustikdämpfenden Schicht (22) und dem Teppich (23) geleitet wird und der Teppich (23) in dem Bereich des sich ausbildenden Fußpolsters (24) nur bereichsweise an der akustikdämpfenden Schicht (22) fixiert ist.
