- the present invention relates to a method for producing a sand mold for animal products which is excellent in strength and reduces the coating work by using a uniform composition obtained by mixing a novel modified silicate composition with a polyisocyanate.
- sand molds for animals
- sand molds used to manufacture various metal products. It can be broadly divided into the following two methods. That is, for example, a method of solidifying animal sand (hereinafter simply referred to as sand) made of coarse-grained silica sand or zircon sand having a particle size of 325 mesh or more by an organic binder is used. This is a method of solidifying with an inorganic binder.
- the former method using an organic biker is, for example, a method in which a phenol resin or a furan resin mixed with sand is mixed with a strong acid curing agent such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, toluenesulfonic acid or xylenesulfonic acid.
- a strong acid curing agent such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, toluenesulfonic acid or xylenesulfonic acid.
- the sand mold produced by the above-mentioned organic binder generally has poor strength after molten metal injection (hereinafter referred to as “high-temperature strength”), and when the molten metal is injected into the sand mold, the organic binder becomes insoluble. As the sand burns, the bonds between the sand grains loosen, and the so-called plug-in accident, in which the molten metal penetrates between the sands, occurs. To prevent the molten metal from entering the interior of the sand mold, apply a brush or spray, etc., to the part that comes in contact with the molten sand, using graphite, mica powder, ° charcoal powder, talc, etc. This had to be applied, and this application accounted for 30-50% of the sand mold production costs, and was a major contributor to the sand mold cost up.
- high-temperature strength molten metal injection
- Japanese Patent Publication No. 63-40617 discloses that when an organic binder and a hardener are used to produce a sand mold, a ceramic binder (tetraalkoxysilane such as ethyl silicate, One or more of its hydrolytic dehydration polycondensation products, water-dispersible silicasol, and alcohol-dispersible silicasol) and this ceramic
- polyisocyanate which is the hardening agent of the binder, it has excellent strength (hereinafter referred to as “standing strength”) and high-temperature strength after standing for a certain period of time at room temperature in the atmosphere, and We propose a mold material that requires no mold at all or only a simple mold.
- this method requires the addition of a ceramic binder and its curing agent to the organic binder and its curing agent that have been used in the past when manufacturing sand molds. It is necessary to install drug supply equipment. In addition, it is necessary to uniformly mix the four chemicals in the sand in a short time at the mold manufacturing site, and the operation is complicated.
- the present inventors use conventional equipment as it is or with a slight modification if it is possible to mix the ceramic binder and the polyisocyanate as a curing agent into one component. I thought I could do it.
- organic binder that uses a polysocyanate
- a ceramic-based binder and its curing agent can be mixed and added to the polysocyanate, and no equipment change is required.
- organic binders that do not use polysocyanates have only one additional component.
- silicate compound hydrolytic dehydration / polycondensation product
