Definitions
- the invention relates to a radiolucent body support that can be used as part of the lying surface in a patient couch intended for radiation therapy, consisting of a frame with a transparent covering.
- This body support is used instead of part of the normal lying surface if the body part to be treated is one
- the body support is transparent so that the radiation source, e.g. an X-ray apparatus, before the radiation treatment with a pilot light, can be optically aligned with the treatment area marked on the body part.
- the radiation source e.g. an X-ray apparatus
- a known body support of the type mentioned above consists of a rectangular frame with a covering of crossed plastic strings in the manner of a tennis rocket. In order to make the wing more comfortable for the body to rest on, the
- String covering is usually still covered with a plastic cover film.
- a radiation-permeable body support in which, according to the invention, an at least approximately full covering is provided, which consists of at least one plastic film.
- the required load capacity of the covering is achieved with less material stress.
- the material stresses occurring consequently move in a range which is more favorable in terms of relaxation, so that the required load-bearing capacity is maintained for a longer time.
- re-tensioning a film covering is relatively easy to do.
- a film covering has a lifespan many times longer than a corresponding string covering.
- a cover film, as is usual for string strings, is also not required for film strings.
- the film covering has a radiation transmission that is homogeneous over the entire frame area, i.e. the shadow pattern caused by string strings is eliminated.
- the covering can consist of a single plastic film which is stretched all around on the frame in the manner of an eardrum. This solution is particularly useful for a round frame format. In general, however, the body pad has a rectangular format. Covering a rectangular frame surface with a single plastic film to be clamped two-dimensionally is possible, but offers certain difficulties with regard to achieving a uniform clamping, which can only be avoided with complicated clamping devices. It is therefore simpler and without disadvantage for the present purpose to cross-brace at least two plastic films.
- tensioning rollers can be used as tensioning devices, which rest in semi-cylindrical longitudinal grooves on the pair of parallel bars forming the frame and can be fixed by means of clamping clips. On their circumference, these tensioning rollers have a longitudinal slot into which the edge of an edge part of the film that wraps around the tensioning roller is inserted.
- a clamping lever can be attached to the front sides of the tensioning rollers to turn the tensioning rollers when the clamping clamps are released and to generate the tensioning force.
- Tension roller do not exceed a certain length, i.e. For longer spars, several, individually actuated clamping devices must be provided in a row along the spars. In this case, it is necessary to divide the plastic films into individual webs, at least in the clamping area, at the ends of which a clamping device engages so that the end faces of the clamping rollers arranged in a row are freely accessible for attaching the clamping lifts. It is therefore also possible to provide a plurality of parallel film webs in one or in both directions for the crosswise covering of the frame surface.
- a higher load-bearing capacity of the body support can be achieved, for example, that the plastic film forms a film surface both on the top and on the bottom of the frame and that the two film surfaces are non-positively connected to one another by webs. sig are connected.
- the webs can all be arranged in one direction or crosswise and preferably also consist of radiation-permeable plastic. The mutual distance between the webs can be of the order of 10 cm. ,
- the pairs of parallel bars forming the frame are preloaded so that they run in a straight line under the action of the tensioning force of the fabric. This can reduce the cost of materials for the frame construction.
- the film material used for the covering can have a color tint or be mirrored against a view from the lying side.
- the covering can be assigned a memory or measuring grid, e.g. in the form of a print on one of the plastic sheets or in the form of strings.
- schematic furnishing or treatment templates can be inserted between two cross-stretched plastic films.
- Plastic films that are suitable for the present purpose are commercially available in abundance.
- a polyester film has proven to be usable, which is radiolucent, radiation-proof and transparent to the required extent.
- a frame size e.g. 50 x 60 cm and a clamping force of approximately 500 N per cm clamping length have a thickness of approximately 0.3 mm.
- FIG. 2 view of the underside of the body support according to Fig. 1;
- FIG. 3 cross section of a frame spar of the body support according to FIG. 2, with a tensioning device, on a larger scale;
- Fig. 4 view of the top of another body support with a rectangular frame and crosswise covering from several sheets of film in both directions;
- Fig. 5 cross section of another body support, in which a plastic film spans the frame on the top and bottom.
- the radiolucent body support according to FIGS. 1 to 3 has a rectangular frame 1 which is formed from pairs of parallel bars 2, 3, 4 and 5.
- the spars can be preloaded; in this case they are bent outwards in the unloaded state.
- the frame surface is provided with a transparent, surface-covering fabric, which consists of two plastic films 6 and 7 braced crosswise between the spars 2, 4 and 3, 5.
- One of the two plastic films is provided with a printed grid 8.
- Both plastic foils 6 and 7 are divided into individual webs in the clamping area, ie where they enclose the spars 2, 4 and 3, 5, namely the plastic foil 6 on the two spars 2 and 4 each has three formed by recesses 9 Paths 10, while the plastic film 7 ends on the two spars 3 and 5 in two paths 12 formed by the recesses 11.
- a tensioning device engages.
- the tensioning devices used are tensioning rollers 13, which rest in semi-cylindrical longitudinal grooves 14 on the underside of the spars 2 and 5 and can be fixed therein by means of clamping brackets 15 with screws 16. 3 shows one of these clamping devices in a side view.
- the tension roller 13 has a longitudinal slot 17 on its circumference, into which the edge of the film web 10 wrapping around the tension roller is inserted.
- a hexagon hole 18 is provided on the end faces of the tensioning roller for inserting an angled hexagon wrench serving as a tensioning lever.
- the embodiment according to Fig. 4 differs from the one described above in that for the crosswise covering of the frame surface instead of one plastic film 6 or 7 in each clamping direction several, e.g. three or two plastic film webs 19 or 20 are provided, which are separated from one another by spaces 21 corresponding to the cutouts 9, 11 in FIG. 1.
- the covering is not completely nationwide.
- the advantage, however, is that film webs with straight lines can be used.
- the film webs can also abut one another laterally in the frame area and only have spaces in the clamping area for access to the clamping devices.
- FIG. 5 shows schematically a body support with increased load-bearing capacity.
- the plastic film 22 wraps around the frame 23 and forms a film surface 24 and 25 both on the top and on the bottom of the frame.
- the schematically indicated tensioning devices 26 and 27 are located on one and the same spar of the frame 23.
- the two film surfaces 24 and 25 are non-positively connected to one another by webs 28, which form parts of a coarse-mesh grid.
- Crosspieces 28 can suffice for a single, one-dimensionally stretched plastic film 22 for covering the frame surface, provided that crosspieces 28 extending in the tensioning direction are provided which adequately stiffen the lateral edge parts of the plastic film 22.
