\A/i NE55E5 MNEN U ggflbm m UNITED STATES PATENT OFFton ROBERT F. KANE, OF GAMBRIDGEPORT, ASSIGNOR TO DOVER STAMllNLl COMPANY, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESlGN FOR TOY MONEY-BOXES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,231, dated April 18, 1876; application filed December 10, 1575. [Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
lie it known that I, ROBERT F. KANE, of Ualnbridgeport, Massachusetts, have invented a new and original Design for Uhildrcns To Money-Boxes or Banks, of which the follow ing is a true description:
The nature of my invention is represented by the drawing; and consists of a hollow obelisk provided with a slot in one side, as shown, and is designed to serve as a savings or money bank for children. It is constructed, preferably, of tin. The, base or pedestal is struck up, and the sides are separate pieces, molded as shown, with two of the four parts somewhat wider, for the purpose of making a lap-joint at the corners, as represented. The parts are then united with solder.
The principal feature of the design, as will thus be seen, is an obelisk-shaped column, a, rising from a base or plinth, consisting of the molding l5 and flange O.
The face or front of the bank may be ornamented in any desirable way, the one filed herewith bearing the dates 1776-1876 arranged upon the side under the slot, with the name Centennial Bank in ornamental form represented beneath.
I clain1 The obelisk design for a toy money-box, substantially as shown and described.
ROBERT F. KANE.
