DESIGN FOR STOCKING FABRIC.
Specification forming part of Design No. 6,664, dated May 20, 1873; application filed April 26, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN W. PARKS, of the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have produced or invented a Design for a Stocking Fabric, of which the following is a specification:
The figure in the accompanying drawing represents sufficient of the pattern to illustrate my design, which consists of a series of parallel stripes, A, B, O, and 1), upon a plain ground or body, a. The stripe A consists of a series of parallel minor stripes of diflerent shades or colors and of a row of dots, b, inclosed between narrow curved or waved bars, as shown. The stripes B and O are of the same general character as the stripe A, differing only in the arrangement and number of the minor stripes and bars at either side of the row of dots. It will be seen that in all the stripes oval forms b b are arranged between light and dark stripes which meet between the ovals. In the stripe D the row of dots is merged into one of the adjoining bars, so as to present the appearance of a compara tively wide bar, with one scalloped edge.
Irrespective ot'the colors employed, lelain1- 1. The design for a stripe consisting ot'ovals bb, arranged between light and dark minor stripes, as shown and described.
2. The design for the stripe D, as shown and described.
3. The design for the whole pattern, including the stripes A, B, C, and 1).
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOHN W. PARKS.
