DESIGN FOR STOCKING FABRIC.
Specification forming part of Design No. 7,782, dated September 1, 1874; application filed August 19, 1874. [Term of Patent 31} years] CASE K.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, \VILLIAM MARTIN, oi Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented a Design for Stocking Fabric, (K,) of which the following is a specification:
The figure in the accompanying drawing represents sufficient of a stocking fabric to illustrate my design, the remainder being merely a repetition of that which appears.
The design is composed mainly of parallel stripes A, each of which throughout a portion of its length is of the peculiar scalloped or zigzag character, clearly shown in the drawing, and a peculiar and pleasing effect is produced by arranging the zigzag portions of the several stripes directly opposite each other throughout the pattern. Each stripe A is composed of a series of minor stripes, bars, or
ribs, of different shades or colors blended into each other, as shown, and the body of the fabric is ornamented by narrow rihs B of the same scalloped or zigzag character as the stripes.
Irrespective of the colors employed, Iclaim- The design for a stocking fabric consisting of parallel stripes A and ribs :lof the sealloped or zigzag character described and rep resented by the drawing.
