DESIGN FOR STOCKING FABRIC.

Specification forming part of Design No. 6,669, dated May 27, 1873; application tiled May 13, 1873.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CONYERS BUTTON, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented a. Design for Stocking Fabric, of which the following is a specification:

My design is fully represented by the figure in the accompanying drawing, and consists of stripes A and B, alternated upon a plain ground a.

Each stripe A has at its opposite edges narrow ribs 1), within which, and at either side of a center composed of three ribs, 0, d, and e, are wider ribs or barsff. The stripes B are composed of a series of narrow parallel bars, stripes, or ribs, arranged in the manner too clearly shown in the drawing to need description.

The continuity of the stripes may be broken at intervals, if desired, by dropping stitches, so as to produce the appearance of ribs h crossing the stripes atright angles; but this is immaterial, and forms no part of lny design.
