Description
DESIGN.
M. LANDENBERGER.
Shawl-Pattern.
6 2 .A a o H UNITED STATES PATENT ()FFICE.
MARTIN LANDENBERGER, 0F PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A SHAWL-PATTERN.
Specification forming part of Design No. 6,093, dated August 27, 1872.
Specification describing a Design for a Shawl, produced or invented by MARTIN LAN- DENBERGER, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Design for a Shawl.
The nature of my design is fully represented in the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 represents a portion of the shawl, and Fig. 2 the entire shawl drawn to a reduced scale.
The special feature of the shawl consists of a series of parallel stripes arranged in one direction, and crossed at right angles by a group of stripes arranged near two of the fringed borders.
It is immaterial how the stripes which prevail throughout the body of the shawl are arranged, or what style of grouping is employed, or what colors are used; but it is essential, in carrying out my design, that the body of the shawl should consist of a series of stripes. It
is essential, moreover, that these stripes should be continuous throughout the greater portion of the body of the shawl, and that their continuity should be interrupted near the two opposite fringed edges a a by a group, b, of stripes, which maybe of any desired number, arrangement, or color, there being between each group of stripes and the adjoining fringed edge a narrow strip, (1, of the same striped pattern as the body of the fabric.
I claim as my invention- The design for ashawl, substantially as described and illustrated.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
MARTIN LANDENBERGER.
