\\'lLL[Al\l A. \VALT()N, OF lfltOVl'DlNUll, RHODE ISLAND, ASSIGNUR T0 THE ilYlltSlll MILLS, Oli SAME lliUll.
DESIGN FOR FANCY CASSIMERES.
Speelication forming part of Design No. 8,692. dated October 5, 1375; application tiled September 1S, 154.75. [Term of Patent 7 years.]
To all trimm it muy concern.:
Be it known that l, Winnaar A. U/roti, of the city and county of Providence, in the State of lthode Island, hare invented a new Design for Fancy (jassimeres, and I do hereby declare that the following' specification, talten in connection with the drawings making a. part of the same, is a fnll, clear, and exact description thereof.
The distinctive pecnliarity which character izcs the design for fancy-woven cassimeres, hereinafter described, consists in the novel ctnnposition of the figures which ornament the broad stripes A, running,l lengthwise of the fabric, and also in the effect which is produced by the arrangement in a pattern of such pecnliarly-eomposed stripes A with narrow separating-stripes B.
The ornamental portion ofthe broad stripes A is composed of groups of tive qnadrangnlar figures a., one of them being.;l placed centrally' in the group, and the other four arranged around the sides of the central one. 'lhese groups of geometrical tiguris are separated from each other in the same stripe by rectangular patches of basket-weaving C, giving the effect of a series of broken or knotted lines arranged parallel t0 each other, and running erosswlse of the fabric.
The ornamental portion oi the stripe A is placed upon a ground of plain nearing, and narrow stripes l, of a common pattern, are arranged lengthwise 0f the fabric, alternately with the broad stripes. Stripes of any other comlnon pattern may be substituted for the stripes ll, to mark the boundaries of the broad stripes A, and the elfcet will be the same; or the narrow stripe may be omitted altogether, and the ornamental stripes A be separated from each other by simple stripes o1 plain wearinn'.
The design may be represented in any variety or combination of colors that may be preferred for bringing out the effect of the patent.
W'hat l claim as my invention, t0 secure by Letters Patent, is-
'lhe design for fancy cassimercs, substantially as described, and shown in the drawings.
and desire WILLIAM A. WALTON. Witnesses:
