Specification forming part of Design No. 6,357, dated January 21, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAMJAMES IIOGG, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have produced or invented a Design for a Carpet-Pattern, of which the following is a specification:
The igure in the accompanying drawing represents sufficient of the border` A and body B of a carpet to illustrate my design.
The border A consists of a series of parallel ribs, ay b c d, &e., of diiierent shades or eolors, some of which are discontinued or broken at intervals, and composed Wholly or in party of short transverse and inclined bars forming,` figures of the same general character as those composing the body of the pattern. The body B is made up of a series ot' gures,f, arranged at regular distances apart, an d each consisting of a central dot surrounded by an angular bor der, and the figures are separated into longitudinal rows by zigzag ribs g ot' the character represented in the drawing.
Irrespective ofthecolors employed, l claim- 1. 'Ilie design for the border A, substantially as shown and described.
2. The design for the body B, substantially as described and represented.
3. The design for a carpet-pattern in which the border A and body B are combined.
