SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,743, dated June 30, 1896.
Application filed May 27, 1898. Serial No. 593,348. Term of patent 14 year:-
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM GEORGE COL- LINS, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Plush or I lie Fabrics; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a plan, and Fig. 2 is a sectional view showing a piece of plush of my new design. These views are deemed sufiicient to fully illustrate the same.
The leading feature of my design consists in a piece of plush or pile fabric having raised narrow stripes of pile separated from one another by narrow grooves, and wide stripes of pile alternating with the narrow stripes, and also separated from the narrow stripes by narrow grooves, the wide stripes presenting, at their longitudinal centers, figures of ornamentation differing in color from the ground color of the narrow and wide stripes.
In said drawings, 0, indicates a piece of plush or pile fabric. b b are parallel grooves in the pile-surface thereof between the narrow stripes and between the wide and narrow stripes.
c c and c c are pluralities or groups of narrow raised stripes of pile, and d d are wide stripes of pile alternating with the groups of narrow stripes. The narrow and wide stripes are of uniform body or ground color, but the wide stripes are ornamented in their longitudinal centers by imprints e e in color differing from that of the body color. The faces of the narrow grooves 1) between the stripes of pile display ornamental ridges with transverse markings f.
\Vhat I claim as new is The design for plush or pile fabric, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 16th day of May, 1896.
