Description

PATEN TD MAH] 1869 initrd grant @sind @wie RODMAN BACKUS, OF ALBANY, NEW YORK.
Design No. 3,493, dated May 11, 1869.
DESIGN FOR THE PLATES OF A STOVE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part 0f the F"- To all whom it may conce/rn:
Be it known that I, RODMAN BAoKUs, of the city and county of Albany, in the State of New York, have originated a new Design for Stove-Plates, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, inaking part of' this specification, in which- Figure l, sheet l, is a front elevation of the stove to which my design is applicable.
Figure 2, sheet 2, is the upper section of lny new design.
Figure 3 is the lower section.
Figure 4 is a top view of the top section.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
The design which I have produced relates to the two outer walls, or sections which surround the firepot and the combustion-chamber of a fuel-magazine illuminating parlor-heater.
The drawings, fig. l, represent such a heater with the two sections above referred to in their proper places, and iigs. 2 and 3 represent these sections detached from other parts of the heater.
The novelty of the design consists in a polygonal ogee-ornaxnent, G, resting upon and combined with a polygonal ogee-seotion, B, through the facets b, of which, windows of an ornamental character are made. rllhc base of this section B is contracted by a polygonal concave or cavetto.
The section A, which is arranged beneath the section B, is of the form of a polygonal cavetto, whose facets may or may not be perforated or retioulated, and this section is capped by a polygonal moulding of suitable design.
It will be seen that the many-sided cavetto-section A and the window-section B, with corresponding sides or facets, when taken together, present the outline of a double ogee, which is broken by an intermediate plain ogee, that ornaments the base of the Gothic windows in section B, and also the upper end of the cavetto-base A.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for stove-sections A and B, as described and shown.
RODMAN BAOKUS.
