Design No. 4,190, dated J um: 28, 187 0.
DESIGN FOR IRON RAILING'.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
I, ELHANAN OMENSETTER, of the city of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Iron Railing, of which the following is a specification.
The nature of my design is fully represented in the accompanying photographic illustration, to which reference is made.
To the rails A A are connected the pales B. The latter are constructed of the serpentine rods 0, the middle portion of which is connected with the bottom rail A.
The rod from this point takes a serpentine course, each end of the rod crossing each other, and forming spaces, b, below the top rail A, and extending above the rail in harp-form, where they unite with the broad leaf ornament d, which projects upward from the top of the rail.
Covering the face of the rail A, and, in connection with the serpentine rod, extending partly within the upper space I), are leaf ornaments, e 0. Similar ornaments,e'e', having pendants, f, cover the rail A. These ornaments e e have broad pendent leaves 9 g.
On the middle portion of the rods 0 are leaf ornaments e.
There are ornamental bands, 71, on the ends of the rails A A and between the pales B.
The middle portion of the pales B has leaves, j j and j j. "at the crossing of the serpentine rod 0.
I claim as my invention- The design for iron railing, as shown.
In testimony that the above is my invention, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 23d day of April, 1870.
