DESIGN.
Patented Got. 2, I900.
H. HORNBOSTEL. 'LAVATORY S LAB.
(Application filed July 5, 1900.)
I INVENTOR;
WITNESSES:
By Attorneys, :;W pg
U ITE STATES PATENT OFFICE HENRY HORNBOSTEL, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE HENRY HUBER COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A LAVATOR Y-SLAB.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,308, dated October 2, 1900.
Application filed July 5, 1900. Serial No. 22,637. Term of patent 14 years. 7
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY HoRNBosTEL, a citizen of the United States, residing in New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Lavatory-Slab,
-of which the following is a specification.
This design relates to a lavatory-slab.
The new design relates to the shape or configuration and also to the surface ornamentation of a lavatory-slab.
My present design is shown in the accompanying drawing, which is a perspective view of the top or obverse side of a lavatory-slab embodying the new design.
Referring to the drawing, A represents a lavatory-slab; B, the front part thereof; 0, the rear part thereof; D, the sides; E, the aperture, and F the top surface.
A distinctive feature of the new design exists in the shape of the aperture E, which in r its general extent is a distorted ellipse in outline, the portion a at the front side of its longer axis b being substantially semi-elliptical, and the portions e at the rear side of its longer axis being distorted rearwardly in the form of two distinct arcs which meet in an obtuse angle on the line of the shorter axis f, so that the rear side has the appearance of a flat Corinthian arch, while the front side and the ends of the aperture appear elliptical.
Another distinguishing feature of my design is that the front B and the ends D of the slab are in general of elliptical outline, while the rear 0 thereof is a projection in the direction of the shorter axis of the ellipse and has a rectilinear rear wall g, angular f side walls It, and curves 41 uniting its side walls with the elliptical walls of the slab.
Another distinguishing feature in the shap of the slab is the disposition of the approx mately-elliptical aperture E, eccentrically the approximately-elliptical slab A. The re cess is disposed with its longer axis consider ably in front of the longer axis j of the slain The result of this eccentricity is thatiith top of the slab consistsofa narrowband lo q the band-7c has anarrow bead-like elevatic n surrounding it, and that the intermedia portion of the band Itbetween the beads depressed there, as well as at the points 0 b tween the different portions of the beads At rear the slab has a smooth top 10, acre which the elevation m is perceptible, and the sides of which at q the outer and inn beads are connected by reverse curves.
The new design is distinctive and pleasil in appearance.
What I claim 'is' The design for a lavatory-slab, substa tially as herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto sign my name in the presence of two subscribi witnesses.
