UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN ANDERSON, OF EVELETH, MINNESOTA.
DESIGN FOR A HINGE LEAF OR MEMBER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 32,253, dated February 20, 1900.
Application filed January 2, 1900. $erial No. 1'77. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN ANDERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Eveleth, in the county of St. Louis and State of Minnesota, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Hinge Leaf or Member, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and novel .esign for a hinge leaf or member, and has for its object to provide such a device which shall be both ornamental and useful.
The feature of the design resides in the flat substantially-rectangular hinge leaf or member having the pair of outwardly-directed segmental projections, which are formed upon the outer side of the leaf. These projections are alined longitudinally of the leaf, adjacent to and inwardly from the inner edge thereof, and also located adjacent to the respective opposite ends of the leaf. Each projection has its inner face rounded or convexed outwardly, and its opposite outer face is flat or straight and also inclined outwardly, the common meeting edge between the straight and convex faces being sharp, overhanging the base of the projection and extending longitudinally of the leaf, and the respective opposite ends of the projection have flat faces extending at substantially right angles to the plane of the leaf and also disposed transversely thereof.
In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a hinge leaf or member embodying the present design. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view taken through one of the projections at one end of the leaf.
Corresponding parts in both figures of the drawings are designated by like characters of reference.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, the numeral 1 designates the hinge leaf, which is flat and of substantially-rectangnlar form.
The numeral 2 designates the respective projections, which are of segmental shape and located upon the outer side of the leaf and alined longitudinallyadjacent to and inwardly from the inner longitudinal edge of the leaf. Each projection has its inner face 3, next to the inner edge of the leaf, rounded or convexed outwardly, and its opposite outer face 4 is flator straight and also inclined outwardly. The common meeting edge 5 between the straight and convened faces is sharp, overhangs the base of the projection, and extends longitudinally of the leaf. The respective opposite ends of the projection have fiat faces 6, which extend at substantially right angles to the plane of the leaf and also transversely thereof. 7
What is claimed is- The design for a hinge leaf or member herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as myown I have hereto afiixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
JOHN ANDERSON.
