DESIGN FOR SURFACE ORNAMENTATION OF WALLS, 800.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16,240. dated September 8, 1885.

To all ur/zom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK MANKEY, of \Villianisport, Lycoxning county, Pennsyl- Vania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Surface Ornanientation of Walls, &c.,of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, forming part hereof.
Figure 1 shows my new design. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
My design consists in a series of raised bars, A, produced upon the surface. The upper surface of each of said bars lies in two planes, B and O, disposed at an angle. Said bars are separated by channels D, rectangular in crosssection. A different appearance of grain markings exists on the surface of said bars Term of patent 7 years.
from that which is seen at the bottom of the 20 channels 1). Thus the grain within the channels is shown in the annexed photographs as longitudinal and substantially straight, while on the surface of said bars it is more or less angular, curved, and variegated.
I clai1n- The design for a surface ornamentation of walls, &c., herein shown and described, consisting in a series of raised bars, A, each bar having its upper surfaces in differently-inclined planes B and C and intermediate channels, D, the surfaces of said bars exhibiting a difi'erent appearance of grain from the bottom portions of said channels.
