DESIGN.
A. W. WALKER. GRATE BAR.
No. 28,361. Patented Mar. 8,1898.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ARTHUR XV. VALKER, OF MALDEN, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR A GRATE-BAR.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARTHUR W. WALKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Malden, in the county of Middlesex and Com monjvealth of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Grate-Bar, of which the following is a specification.
In the drawings accompanying and forming o a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective View of a grate-bar illustrating my design; and Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional View thereof on the line a: m, Fig. 1.
The leading feature of my design for a grate 5 bar consists in a bar-like base or body portion having symmetrically-located oppositely-con- VeXed projections along its opposite sides extending above and below the top and bottom, respectively, of the base and merging o thereinto by concaved portions from their apices.
The bar-like base or body of the grate-bar is shown as composed of parallel longitudinal members a, connected by lateral separated cross-bars 12, forming an apertured base. Along the sides of the base are arranged symmetrically-located projections 0, having convexed outer faces 0', substantially lozengeshaped, the apices c c of said projections extending above and below the top and bottom, respectively, of the base, while the crossbars I) are contin ued in outwardly-curved portions 5 b to said apices, sweeping in easy curves from the plane of the top and bottom of the body to the apices of the projections.
Having fully described my novel design, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a grate-bar, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ARTHUR XV. VALKER.
