' WWI UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDERICK IV. ATKINSON, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A RAIL-BOND.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,743, dated November 29, 1898.
Application filed October 1'7, 1898. Serial No. 693,837. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FREDERICK W. ATKIN- SON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new, useful, and original Design for a Rail-Bond, of which the following is aspecification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a plan view of a rail-bond, showing my design. Fig. 2 is a side View of the same.
The leading feature of my design consists in the bends or offsets in the connectingstrips which connect the end blocks of the bond, the outlines of which when viewed in plan lie wholly within the planes of the sides of the end blocks.
Reference -signs B C designate the end blocks of the bond, rectangular in general outline and having the projecting ends F G. The .strips A connect the blocks B C, and said strips have bends or ofisets D E intermediate their ends, the bends or ofisets D on one side being presented toward the bends or ofisets E on the other side, whereby the outlines of the connecting-strips lie Wholly within the planes of the two outer sides of the end blocks. The top surface of the end blocks B C, as viewed in plan in Fig. 1, is plane, and the surfaces of the edges of the connecting-strips A, which are presented toward the ends F G, lie in the same plane therewith.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design fora rail-bond as herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand, this 20th day of September, 1898, in the presence of the subscribing witnesses.
