DESIGN FORTHE ORNAMENTATION OF CORSETS.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,923, dated February 12, 1889.

Be it known that I, CATHARINE A. GRIS- WOLD, of the city of New York, county and State of New York, and a citizen of the United States, have invented and produced a new and useful Design for the Ornamentation of Corsets, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification.

The single figure in the drawing represents in side elevation a corset containing my invention.

The leading and special feature of my new design consists in two bands extending from the upper edge of the corset downwardly to the waist-line thereof and two bands or stripes extending from the lower edge of the corset upwardly to the said waist-line thereof, the end of each of the bands or stripes extending from the upper edge meeting opposedly at said waist-line the end of the corresponding band or stripe extending from the lower edge and an cdgewise-bent band or stripe at said waistline and between and ex tending from the opposed ends of two of said correspondin g hands on the waist-line to the opposed ends of the other two of said corresponding bands.

A represents a corset, which may be in the usual and ordinary form B and B represent two bands or stripes which extend from the upper edge of the corsetdownwardly over the face of the same to the waist-line thereof.

0 and C" represent two bands or stripes which extend from the lower edge of the corset upwardly over the face of the same to the Waist-line thereof.

The ends of the bands or stripes B and B at the waist-line meet opposedly, respectively, the ends thcreat of the bands or stripes C and C.

D represents a band or stripe which is of comparatively short length, and which is given an edgewise bend. This edgewise-bent band or stripe D is placed at the waistline of the corset and between and extending from the opposedly1neeting ends of the bands or stripes B and C to the opposcdly-meeting ends of the bands or stripes B and C.

\Vhat I claim is- The design for the ornamentation of a corset herein described and shown, the same consisting in two bands or stripes, B and B, extending from the upper edge of the corset downwardly to the waivstrlinerthcreof, and two bands or stripes, G and 0', extending from the lower ed go upwardly to the waist-line, the

ends of the corresponding bands B and C at the waist-line meeting opposedly to eaelr other, and the ends of the corresponding bands B and G at the waist-line likewise meeting o 'iposcdly, together with the edgewise-bent band or stripe D at said waist-line of the corset and between and extending from the opposed ly-rneeting ends of the bands B and C to the opposedly-meeting ends of the bands B and C thereat.
