DESIGN FOR THE ORNAMENTATION OF CORSETS.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Design No. 19,238, dated July 30, 1889.
Application filed June 29, 1889- Serial No. 316,098. Term of patent 14 years.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CATHARINE A. Gins- WOLD, of the city, county, and State of New York, a citizen of the United States, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Ornamentation of Corsets, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specifieation.
The single figure in the drawing represents in side elevation a corset containing my invention.
The leading and special feature of my new design consists in bands or stripes, each of which is curved or bent upon itself about midway its ends and the ends of each of which are approximately rectilinear in direction and converge toward each other at their free extremities, said bands or stripes thus shaped extending in a series along the upper edge of the corset and reaching longitudinally downwardly from said upper edge toward the waistline of the corset.
A represents a corset, which may be in the usual and ordinary form.
B H B represent bands orstripes, each one of which has a. curve or bend 1) upon itself about midway its ends, as shown, the said ends I) and b of each said band or stripe bein g approximately rectilinear in direction and converging toward each other at their free extremities, as shown. The bands or stripes B B i thus shaped extend in a series along the upper edge of the corset in suecession,as shown, and reach longitudinally from said upper edge downwardly toward the waist-line of the corset, as shown.
-What I claim is lhe design for the ornamentation of a corset herein described and shown, the same consisting in bands or stripes l; 13 B each of which has a curve or bend I) upon itself about midway its ends, and said ends 11' and b of which are approximately rectilinear in direction and converge toward each other at their free extremities, said bands or stripes thus shaped extending in a series along the upper edge of the corset and reaching dmvnwardly from said upper edge toward the waist-line of the corset.
