UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ESSINGTON N. GILFILLAN, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR Ol ONEJIALF TO E. A. STILL, OF SAME PLACE.
DESlGN FOR A DESK AND CABINET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,244, dated February 1, 1898. Application filed August 1, 1896. Serial No. 601,395. Term of patent 7 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be itknown that Llfissmorox N.GILFILLAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design or Useful Shape for a Combined Desk and Cabinet, of which the following, in connection with the accompanying drawing, is a full, clear, and exact specification.
The said drawing is a perspective view of a combined desk and cabinet embodying my design.
The leading features of my design consist of the upright oblong body portion A, having the rearwardly-reclining front B, presenting across its face the appearance of a series of vertical strips C, apparently rising from two oblong panels D, extending along the lower edge of the front B, and the flat base portion E, projecting forwardly from the front 13.
The body portion A rises substantially perpendicularly at its rear side and on an incline at its forward or front side, it being wider at the base than at the top, where it is surmounted with an outwardly-flaring border or bead F, while the bottom portion is apparently supported upon a base E, from which rises the reclining front B.
Along the upper edge of the front I is arranged a longitudinal panel C, between which and the upper ends of the strips or partitions C is located a longitudinal bead or panel H, narrower than the panel G.
Rising from the lower edge of the front of the cabinet along its face portion is a bead l, which is coterminous at its upper end with the partitions C, but at its lower end extends below them and apparently divides the panels D.
At each of the lower corners, where the front B apparently joins with the base E, is located an ornamental rosette J.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The new and original design or useful shape for a combined desk and cabinet substantially as herein shown and described.
E. N. GILFILLAN.
