DESIGN.
S. J. SHERER.
COUNTER.
No. 24,039. Patented Feb. 12. 1895.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL J. SHERER, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A COUNTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,039, dated February 12, 1895.
Application filed January 12. 1895. Serial No. 534,711, Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL J. SHERER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and originalDesign for Counters, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, showing a part thereof.
This design relates to counters for exhibition, storage and other purposes and has for its object to produce a novel and ornamental counter which shall present to the eye a. distinguishing and characteristic appearance.
lhe leading feature of my design consists in a casing of oblong form having a flat top with rounded edges, solid end walls and divided into drawer sections extending from rear to front, the upper tier presenting a vertical front, while the bottom of the casing is projected in front and the lower tier slants backward and upward to meet the vertical of the upper tier and forming an obtuse angle therewith. The sections thus formed being surrounded by a frame, or beading, are provided with drawers having transparent front end walls corresponding in size and shape to the said sections and to their front openings.
The design is illustrated in the accompanyiny drawing, in which the fign re represents a perspective view of a counter embodying the design.
In said drawing A designates the bodyportion or casing of the counter this casing being of oblong rectangular form in front and rear elevations.
The top of the counter B is flat and has rounded edges which project beyond the front and ends of the body-portion.
The front of the casing A is divided into a series of rectangular drawer sections C and D disposed in horizontal tiers, the upper sections C presenting a vertical front while the lower sections D have an upward and backward slant by reason of the projecting bottom and lower front of the ends.
Drawers E and F provided with transparent front end walls fit into these sections and a frame or beading G surrounds and overlaps the sections 0 and D, the whole supported by the legs II.
What I claim is The design for a counter herein shown and described.
SAMUEL J. SI'IERER.
