Description

08-099. OR D28195 EX DESIGN.
O. A. DUNN. BICYCLE CHAIN LINK.
No. 28,195. Patented Jan. 18, 1898.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
( LAI'DE A. DUNN, OF DEYVER, COLORADO.
DESIGN FOR A BICYCLE-CHAIN LINK.
To all whom. it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CLAUDE A. DUNN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Denver, in the county of Arapahoe and State of Colorado, have invented a certain new and original Design for a Bicycle- Chain Link; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which forms a part of this specification.
The figure in the accompanying drawing is a perspective View of a chain-link embodying my design.
Mynew design fora link has rounded ends F, with a hole F' centrally through them. At a short distance from each rounded end a rightangled offset G is formed. From this offset portion of each end of the link a second rightangled turn made, and the body portion II of the link extends from the extremity of these oifset portions parallel to the end portions. The opposite edges of the body portion are concaved at E, and in consequence thereof it is narrower at the center than at the ends and offset portions of the ends. The longitudinal central portion of the body of the link on the side at the end of the offset farthest from the rounded ends is curved inward toward the opposite side of the ends with a curve which forms a V-shaped recess along that side of the body of the link. The center portion curves inward far enough to bring the center portion at the opposite side to a sharp ridge J, which projects from the body of the link to even and flush with the outside surface of the rounded ends, and this curve is formed to bring this sharp ridge in a straight line between the centers of the holes F in the ends. This peculiar contour of the body portion of the link gives it the form on one side of a projecting ridge with concave sides which blend from the apex of the ridge to the edges of the link, and on the opposite side of the link it has the appearance of a V-shaped recess with convexed sides.
This design provides a novel chain-link which is of peculiar and ornamental shape.
\Vhat I claim is- The design for a chain-link substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CLAUDE A. DUNN. \Vitnesses:
Josmn A. FOWLER, JAMES N. HANNA.
