UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH \V. LAWS ON, OF STERLING, NEBRASKA.
DESIGN FOR A PLOW POINT OR SHARE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 14,095, dated July 17, 1883.
Application filed May 17,1883. Term of patent years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH W. Lltwsox, of Sterling, in the county of Johnson and State of Nebraska, have invented a new and Improved Design for a Plow Point or Share, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to plow points or shares of a plate form; and it consists in anovel shape and design for such points or shares by forming them to present opposite flat sides, beveled or chamfered off in reverse directions at their opposite ends, and which h. ve convex marginal contours converging toward one another on the shortest of two unequal parallel side margins that determine the width of the plate. The plate is also provided along and near its longest side margin with holes of double and reverse tapering or flaring configuration on opposite sides of it.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming apart of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure lrepresents aview in perspective of a plow point or share of plate form, showing my improved design; and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal cross-section taken near the longer side margin of the plate and intersecting the holes thereof.
A is a plate, having opposite flat or straight sides, ca, beveled or chanlfered off in reverse directions, as at b b, at the opposite ends of the plate. These ends have convex marginal contours, as at c c, converging toward one another on the shortest, (I, of two unequal parallel side margins, d e, that determine the width of the plate. The holes f g are arranged consceu tively along the plate, near the longest side margin, c, thereof, and are made to present double and reverse flaringconfigurations on opposite sides of the plate, as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters .l.atent 1. A design for a plow point or share, consisting of a form having flat sides made to present convex marginal contours at its opposite ends, and reverse bevels 011 its opposite sides at said ends, connected by parallel side nun-- gins of unequal length, as shown and described.
2. A design for plow points or shares having opposite side margins of unequal length,
and ends of convex marginal contours, with re x verse bevels on opposite sides of the plate. as shown and described.
