DESIGN.
C. J. KING.
. DISH.
No. 27,593. Patented Aug. 31, 1897.
Wf n 'Tri: 977 41 11" UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES 1. KING, OF SAN FRANUISCO, CALIFORNIA.
DESIGN FOR A DISH.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Design No. 27,593, dated August 31, 1597.
Application filed October 17, 1896. Serial No. 609,249. Term of patent '7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES J. KING, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of San Francisco, State of California, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Dish, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a plan or top View of a saucer or shallow dish, showing my new design. Fig. :3 is a transverse section through the same figure. Fig. 3 is a similar section through a deep dish produced after my said design.
As shown in the drawings, the leading and material feature of my design consists of a number of petal-shape segments or members of obovate form arranged and disposed in a circle and united at their narrower ends and joined or overlapped along their sides, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, so that the wider ends of the members a a form the rim and the united members form the body of the dish.
The rim is of irrcgularly-scalloped outline with deep indentations (1 marking the divisions between the petal-shape members, and the body is curved or shaped to more or less of a concave form, as seen in the cross-sew tions, Figs. 2 and 2 according to the depth of the dish produced.
The curvature or concavity of the petalshape members of the design are increased in degree from the narrow end out to the broader scalloped end according to the depth of the dish to be produced.
The center of the dish is finished by a circular ornament composed of a number of small petal-shape figures resembling the stamens of a flower, and the surface of the dish inside and out is colored or painted to give the article the resemblance to the corolla of a flower, such as the California poppy.
It is apparent that. this design is also applicable to deep dishes such as bowls and cups.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
lhc design for a dish as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I al'tix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
