PIN.
No. 28,837. Patented June 14,1898.
WITNESSES: INYENJ'UH:
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VOODBURY MELCIIER, OF EAST ORANGE, NEW" JERSEY.
DESIGN FOR A PIN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,837, dated June 14, 1898. Application filed March 31, 1898. Serial No. 675,997. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I,WooDBURY MELCHER, of East Orange, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Pin or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a front View of a pin showing my design. Fig. 2 is a side View of the same. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view of the pm.
The leading and material feature of my design consists in the configuration of the body of the pin, presenting to the eye the appearance of an extended turkeys foot.
In the drawings, 3 indicates the ornamentation of the stem of the pin, the rounded surface of which is hatched, so as to resemble the lower part of a tnrkeys leg. The end 4 is ornamented by two inwardly extended curves and a central semicircular projection. The other end of the stem 3 extends into the three toe-shaped prongs 5, 6, and 7, hatched on their upper rounded surfaces until near the point to resemble the toes of a turkeys foot. A short projection 8 extends laterally from the side of the pin. The web-like surfaces 9 9 between the prongs 5, G, and 7 are stippled on the surface to distinguish them from the prongs. The ornamentation above described is confined to the upper surface of the pin, the lower surface being flat, as shown in Fig. 3. The marginal lines of the ornament are smooth and give the accurate outline of a turkeys foot.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a pin herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
\VOODBURY MELCIIER.
