DESIGN.
W. G. ANDERSON. ORNAMENTATION OF GLASSWARE.
MAE V7227.
@ MAM UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VUJJANI ANDERSON, Uli' TOLEDO, (Hill), AHSIGNUR TO THE \V. L. HHHNY & SON CONPAN Y, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR THE ORNAMENTATION OF GLASSWARE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,053, dated April 23, 1889.
Application filed January 21, 188 Serial No. 297,100. Term of atent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it kn own that I, WILLIAM C. ANnEEsoN, a citizen of the United States, of Toledo, in the county of Lucas and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new Design for the Ornamentation of Glassware; and I do hereby dcclare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it IO appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification.
The class to which this design relates is I5 that of ornamentation of glassware and the ornamentation of the exterior surface thereof.
The drawings represent, in Figure 1, a bot tom plan View of a dish containing the design; and in Fig. 2 a transverse section on lines .r ,r, Fig. 1.
The design is applicable to any kind of glassware, such as bowls, plates, jugs, and dishes.
The leading features of my design are a bottom portion consisting of a many-pointed star with triangular checkered portions and isosceles triangles having radiating prisms formed therein, with alternate isosceles triangles having a diamond-shaped base with 0 inscribed five-pointed stars and a checkered triangle above the same.
The flattened portion of the bottom has an ornamentation of a many-pointed star, A, with the triangular-shaped spaces B between 3 5 the lines, checkered by lines at acute angles, thereby forming diamond-shaped projections, The center 0, formed by the crossing of the lines of the star, is of equal height with the spaces B, and is ornamented with inscribed o five-pointed stars and intermediate lines cross ing a circle formed centrally thereof. The spaces between the outer points of the star are ornamented with a series of prisms, D, radiatin g toward the center. Upon the circular side, above the bottom portion, a row of diamond-shapcd projections, E, formed by lines running at acute angles thereon in opposite directions from the flattened portion to the top of the dish. Each diamond-shaped projection E has formed thereon two blended 5o five-pointed stars with a prismatic stud, F, centrally thereof. Above the row of projections E is a series oi lines out in an inverted- V shape, thereby forming a circumferential row of the dish, the intermediate spaces between the points being of V shape and embellished with a series of prisms radiating toward the point of the figure, there being a circumferential row of prismatic studs, ll, centrally of the height of the dish. Each triangle G embraces a diamond projection, E, at the base thereof, the triangle above each star being checkered in miniature diamonds. By reason of the ornamentations described, the alternating points of the triangles, the radiating prisms, the checkered triangles, and the prismatic studs, together with the many-pointed star, give to the dish apleasing symmetry and highly-ornaincn tal appearance. 7o
\Vhat I claim is The design for the ornamentation of glassware herein shown and described, consisting of a many-pointed star having triangular checkered portions within the points and oppositely-arranged isosceles triangles upon the side thereof, each alternate triangle having formed therein radiating prisms and a pris' matic stud, the triangles alternate thereto, having a diamond-shaped base with inscribed stars, a checkered triangle above the diamond, and a point extending to the top of the dish, as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I hereby affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
