To @ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JoIIN E. MILLER, of Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented anew and useful Design for Table-Ware; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
The design is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figurelis a side elevation of aglass pitcher embodying the design. Fig. 2 is a bottom plan View of the pitcher.
The leading features of the cated in-the following claims.
The pitcher or article of tableware, as shown in the drawings, is provided with ver tical parallel grooves a a, which I show as V-shaped in cross-section. These grooves are design are indiarranged in pairs, which are separate from each other. The members of each pair are arranged quite closely together and are separated by an intervening serrated ridge, b. This ridge is ornamented by a series of beads or serrations, as shown. The grooves a a are interseoted by pairs of similar grooves, e c, crossing them at right angles and extending horizontally around the circumference of the article. The members of each of these pairs of grooves are, like the vertical grooves, separated by a serrated ridge, d. At the bases of the grooves a a and c c are small ridges g, of prismatie form. At the intersections of the grooves t a and c c there are prismatic bosses e. The circumference of the article is thus divided into checkers or panels f. The bottom of the article, as shown in Fig. 2, is ornamented with a similar pattern. It consists of parallel pairs of grooves c a and intervening ridges, b b, interseoted at right angles by pairs of grooves c c and intervening ridges, d. At the bases of these grooves are the small ridges g. rIhe central square formed by these grooves and ridges has a star or rosette figure, lz..
I claiml. The design for tableware herein shown and described, the same consisting in an article of table-ware ornamented with the panels f, bounded by the pairs of vertical grooves a a, the intervening ridges, b,`and the horizontal grooves intersecting the vertical grooves and ridges.
Term of patent 7 years.
2. The design for table-ware herein shown and described, the same consisting in an article of table-ware ornamented with the pairs of vertical grooves a a, the intervening serrated ridges, b, and the horizontal grooves intersecting the vertical grooves and ridges.
3. The design for table-ware herein shown and described, the same consisting in an article of 'table-ware ornamented with the panv elsf, bounded by the pairs of vertical grooves a a, the intervening ridges,b, the pairs of horizontal grooves c @,interseoting the grooves ca, and the ridges d between the members of the pairs of grooves c c.
4. The design for table-ware herein shown and described, the same consisting in an article of table-ware ornamented with the pairs of vertical grooves a cir/,the intervening ridges, b, the pairs of horizontal grooves c c,intersecting the grooves a a, the ridges d between the members of the pairs of grooves c c, and the prismatic bosses e at the intersection of the horizontal and vertical grooves.
5. rlhe design for table-ware herein shown and described, the same consisting in an article of tableware ornamented with grooves arranged in pairs with intervening ridges between the members of the pairs and ridges at the bases of the grooves.
6. The design for tableware herein shown and described, the same consisting in an article of tableware whose bottom is ornamented with pairs of grooves a a and intervening ridges, b, interseoted by pairs of grooves c c and intervening ridges, d,and a star, h, in the center of the bottom.
7. The design for table-ware herein shown and described, the same consisting in an article of table-ware whose sides are ornamented by vertical pairs of grooves with intervening ridges interseoted at right angles by horizontal pairs oi' grooves with intervening ridges, and whose bottom is similarly ornamented by pairs of grooves with intervening ridges interseoted by other pairs of grooves with intervening ridges.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 19th day of January, A. D. 1887.
