DESIGN FOR A MANTEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part 0f Design N0. 19,876, dated June 3, 1890.
Application filed March 17, 1890. Serial No. 344,228. Term ofpatent 7 years.
To all whont it may concern..-
e it known that I, WILLIAM ANDEEsoN, a. citizen of the United States, residing at Hulton, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and usefulImprovements in aDesign for Mantels; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the aeeompanying drawings, which form a part of this specieation.
In the aoeompanying drawings, Figure l is front elevation of a mantel showing my design. Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation of the same, these two views being deemed necessary to illustrate my design.
In the drawings, a represents the pilasters, which extend from the hearth to the mantelboard b, and are provided with caps o on the top and bottom, and with beveled edges. Between the top and bottom caps e and on the pilasters ct are strips f, having a series of reeds formed along the center of each, and also provided with bevel edges. Beneath the top caps e are small corner-pieces g. The
rieze h has a series of reeds 's' thereon, alower bevel odg and a strip yr of molding beneath the same. The mantel-board h has a molded edge and a strip 7.1 beneath the same and along the top of the frieze, to bring the same flush with the caps c to arrange a molding l beneath the mantel-board ZJ. On eaeh of the top caps c are two brackets m, having the moldingl extended about the top of the same. The side strips n and fire-strip o are each formed with a groove or reed along their front faces.
