DESIGN FOR A MANTEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,877, dated June 3, 1890.
Application filed March 17, 1890. Serial No 344,222 Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM ANDERSGN, a citizen of the United States, residing at IInlton, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Design for Mantels; and I do hereby declare the following to he a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a front elevation of a mantel showing my design. Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation of the same, these two views being deemed necessary to fully illustrate my design.
In the drawings, a represents the pilastcrs, which are fitted at their tops with caps 11 c, the top caps I) having a rosette 61 formed therein and a molded base 6, and the bottom caps c a molded top f. Between the upper and lower caps 11 c the pilasters a are provided with a series of reeds g, and are beveled on the edges. The frieze g'of this mantel has a series of reeds 71 formed along the same, also a lower beveled edge and a quarter-round molding "i beneath and along its lower edge. A backing-strip is along the top of the frieze 9' serves to bring the same flush with the upper caps I), and along which a molding Z is arranged. The mantel-board m is provided with a molded edge. The fire-strips W, grounds 1), and side strips 0 are plina.
Having thus described my design,I claim- The design for a mantel herein shown and described, consisting of the mantel-board m, having a molded edge, the pilasters a, the up per and lower caps b c, the frieze g',the reeds h and beveled edge thereon, the backing-strips k, and molding all arranged substantially as described.
