DESIGN FOR A CASING FOR SIDE BEARINGS FOR CAR-TRUCKS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,958, dated August 18, 1896.
Application filed July 16, 1896. Serial No. 599,447. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
lie it known that 1, EDWARD CLIFF, a citizen ot the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Casing of a Side Bearing for Gar-Trucks, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, and in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of a casing for a side bearing incorporating my design; Fig. 2 is a top View of same, and Fig. I) is a longitudinal section of same on the dotted line 3 3 of Fig.
The leading features of my design consist of the elements hereinafter described, and the Whole being as shown in the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings, A B respectively designate the upper and lower parts of the casin g, which, whether viewed from the sides or top, is composed of the two eireularseetions O D, which merge into one another at the center of the casing on the harmonious inwardly-curved lines E. The sides of the upper and lower parts A B, in addition to being composed of the two circular sections C 1'), have the upwardly and inwardly inclined or tapered sides, the sides of the lower part 13 being outward beyond the sides of the upper part A, as shown. The tapered sides of the lower part 1 rise from a flat surrounding base F. At the ends of the lower part 1 are hollow angular ribs G, extending to the upper edge of said part and closed at their upper end, and on the ends of the upper part A at the lower edge only of the latter are the hollow angular projections II, which are smaller in eross section than said ribs and enter the same.
hat I claim is- The design for the casing of a side bearing for ear-trucks, substantially as shown and described.
