DESIGN FOR A SIDE FRAME FOR CAR-TRUCKS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,406, dated December 15, 1896.
Application filed November 3, 1896 Serial No. 610,988. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern..-
Be it known that 1, JOHN A. BRILL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, haveinvented and produced a new and original Design for a Side Frame for CarTrucks, of which the fol lowing is a specification.
My invention relates to a new and original design for a side frame for a car-truck; and it consists in the shape or configuration of the same, substantially as hereinafter described, and shown in the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a plan view; Fig. 2, a side elevation; Fig. 3, an end elevation, and Fig. 4 t sectional elevation on the line a I), Fig. 2.
The side frame is substantially rectangular tnd comprises the following elements, having 1he disposition or configuration substantially 1s herein shown and described.
At 1 are inverted-U-shaped yokes having i-he inner and outer arms 2 and 3, the arms 8 )eing connected at the top and bottom by mm 4. and 5 and both bars centrally by the )arallel upright bars 6 and 7, and extending between the angles formed by the intersection of the arms of the yoke and the lower bar 5 on the one hand and the bars (3 7 and top bar 4 on the other are diagonal chords 8. A rib 9 projects from the outer arms 2 of the yokes and the top of bar 4. 011 the lower bar 5, between the bars 6 '7 and extending outwardly on each side, is a fiat bed-plate l0, and extending between the under surface of the plate 10 to the lower bar 5 are bracketwebs 11.
Under the arch of the yokes 1 are circular caps 12, and extending outwardly from the bars 6 7 and in the plane of the bars 4 5 are lugs,
