To all whom it may concern:
Bo it known that I` CHARLES E. HEYEB, a citizen ol the United States, residing at Chi cago, Cook county, Illinois, have invented and produced a, new and original Design for u Font of Printing-Type, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying typogrnphicimpressions,which are exact representations of said design.
Thecharacter of this designv is a moderately heavy somewhat condensed type without ornamentation, and comprises capitals, dollarmark, figures, und points.
The marked peculinritl of this design is shown in letters having nt one end, either top or bottom, two ceriplis whch'nre unequally and dissimilarly oblique to their stems-e. g., W, X, and Y-giving to the top or bottom line of lhe letters an irregular broken appearance. Minor peculiarities are the abrupt upward turning of the upper line of the E, F, and Z, the downwardlyoblique crosslino of the A and the il, the slighllycul'ved downward stroke of tho K,rind the orossline ofthe Q, which is downward to the left, slightly upwnrd, nud then n horizontal swell.
I claim- The design for a font of printing -types herein shown and described, having letters, as A, K, M, N, R. U, V, W, X, und Y, which hnve at one end, either top or bottom, two ceriphs unequally and dissimilnrly oblique to their stems, substantially ns illustrated.
