Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
s A Yiwu JULIUS PEeEL, oF cAMDEN, NEW JERSEY, AsSIGNoR To JOHN BEOMLEY a soNS, on PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A RUG.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Delgn No. 16.834, dated August 3, 1886.
Application iiled June 19. 1885. Serial No. 205,730. Term of patent .'l years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Beit known that I, JULIUS PEGEL, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, and a resident of Camden, New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Rugs, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photographic illustration, to which reference is made.
In the illustration, A is a rectangular straight-edged border to an inner large panel, B, and it is ornamented with flowers C C, in the general form of daisies, at intervals of its whole length.
D D is fanciful ornamentation between the border A and the edges of the rug.
E E are masses of flowers and leaves extending from near the upper righthan'd corner to near the lower middle of the center panel, and thence to a point near the upper left-hand corner thereof. The two lower corners from the edges of this mass of flowers are lled wit the flowers and leaves. Light sprays, F f fern-like leaves and sprays and varied leaves G and flowers H extend into the remaining space.
One of the end borders, comprising all of that part of the design outside of the central panel, is omitted from the illustration, as it would be a mere duplication of what is shown outside of the other end of said central panel.
The leading features of my design will appear from the following claim.
A design for rugs, consisting of the ornamental rectangular border A, middle large panel, B, masses of flowers and leaves E E, lling the lower corners of the panel B, the upper edges of the masses extending from a point near the lower middle space of panel B to near the upper right and left hand corners thereof, and sprays of leaves and tlowers extending int0`the space of the panel above the masses E E, substantially as shown and described.
JULIUS PEGEL.
