DESIGN FOR A RUG.
EPECIPICATION forming part of Design No. 16,810, dated July 20,1886.
Application filed June 1.9, 1986. Serial No. 205,727. Term of patent It, years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADOLPH PETzoLD, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Rugs, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photographic illustration, to which reference is made.
In the illustration, A is a rectangular border, inclosing a large panel, B. The latter is ornamented with a peacock, C, with trailed tail, a flight of steps, D, and balusters D. Above and to the left of the balusters is a dense mass of leaves and flowers, prominent among which are the large cabbage-shaped flowers E E. In the lower right-hand corner is a cluster of large begonia-leaves, F, as shown, and fancy flower G, and in the upper ter of leaves, H.
The leading and essential features of my design are the peacock with the trailed tail, the balusters and steps, large flowers E E, be-
gonia-leavcs F in the lower right-hand corner, 25
cluster of leaves II in the upper right-hand corner, and the surrounding rectangular border.
\Vhat I claim is As a design for rugs, the middle feature of 0 surrounding rectangular border, substantially 5 as shown and described.
