Be it known that I, WILLIAM McUALLUM, of Yonkers, in the county of estehester and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for a Uarpet, of which the following is a specification:
The photographic illustration represents a face View of my newly-designed carpet, and the border for the same.
This invention relates to a new and original design for a carpet, oil-cloth, or similar fabric; and consists of the new arrangement and on namentation of figures hereinafter pointed out.
In the photographic illustration, the letter A represents the carpet; 1 its border. The carpet A contains on a background, that is ornamented by and composed of a multitude of geometrical figures, the representation of peacock-feathers a and of several balls, I), as shown. The balls b are embellished respectively, by two, four, and five smaller circles, arrangcdaround their peripheries. The carpet is further decorated by ellipses 0, branches and leaves (I, and several arbitrary figures, as shown. The border *3 contains between two broad strips, 0 c, peacock-traithers a and balls b, similar to and corresponding with the design of the carpet A. The outer strip of the border contains also a seriesot' overlapping and opposed semicircles, as shown.
I claim 1. The design for a carpet, having feathers a and balls I), which balls are embellished by smaller circles, substantially as shown.
2. The design for a carpet, having l'eathers (t, balls I), ellipses c, and branches and leaves (I, substantially as shown.
