Beitknown that I, EDMUND PYNE, of New York city, county and State of NewYo1k,lia\'c invented a new and original Design for a Oarpet, of which the following is aspeeieation:
This invention relates to a new design for :t carpet, oil-cloth, orsiniilar fabric, and thehorder thereof.
Iteonsistsoi' the new ornamentation ot' parts hereinafter pointed ont.
The accompanying,` photograph illustrates my new design.
In the photographic illustration, the letter A represents my newly-designed carpet. Il is the border thereof.
The carpet A is composed of peculiar groups, a, of flowers, the center of every such group being roses, which are surrounded by stm'- ilowers, forget-nle-nots, and fernleaves, pertaining to the saine group.
Large palm-like leaves b b constitute a sec- 0nd and distinct series of groups dividingthc groups a. Moss is interspersed between the two groups, givingto the design a peculiar, rich, and natural etfeet.
The border 1l also contains the groups a b, but is, in addition thereto, ornamented by two parallel stripes, c d, and by a fancy margin, e. The inner line ot' the stripe d is undulated, each uudulation elnbraeinga rosette-like orna nient, as shown.
I claim- The design for a carpet, substantially as shown.
