DESIGN FOR TYPE.
To all 107mm it may concern:
lie it known that I, JAiIns M. CONNER, of the city, county, and Stute of New York, have invented nud produced :t new and original Design for e. Font of Printing-Type, of which the following is it specification.
The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographie impression, to which reference is made; and it consists of an extended letter ornamented upon the right and belenY by it light line. The top and bot tom portions of the letters have the inclined sides, ns shown.
The central portions of the B, l), I), and R, uponthe right hand, are extended beyond the top and bottoni lines ofthe letter in euch case, and consist of the short inclined lines connected upon the right by o short vertical line, and this characteristic is found in the C and upon the left hand, and in thcOand Q upon the right hand and left hand. The A, B, D, E, F, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, I, R, T, U, V, IV, X, Y, and Z are shaded by the light line :tt the upper left-hand portion.
The character of the design is preserved in the symbol t, the punctuation-marks, poundsterling niark, and numerals.
Having now described my invention, I claim as new- The design for a font of printing-type, ns shown, the some consisting of nn extended letter ornamented npon the right and below by a light line, the top and bottom portions of theletters having the inclined sides, as shown, the central portions of the B, I), P, and R, n pon the right hand, being extended beyond the top and bottom lines of the letter in each case, and consisting of the short inclined lines connected upon the right by nshort vertical line, and this characteristic being found inthe C and G upon the left hand, and in the Oand Q upon the right hand and left hand, the A, B, D, E, F, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, I), R, T, U, V, XV, X, Y, and Z shaded by the light line nt the upper left-hand portion, andthe character of the design preserved in the symbol Ib, the punctuation marks, ponndsterling merk, und the numerals.
