Be it known that l, AUSTIN F. Jackson, of Taunton, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced anew and original Design for the ,l landles of Spoons, Forks, or Analogous Articles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the annexed drawings, forming part thereof.
Figures 1 and 2 are back views of a fork and spoon; and Figs. 3 and are front views of the same, showing my new design.
A indicates the bowl oi the spoon, and It the handle. The front surface of the handle is provided with a raised figure, C, extend ing obliquely across the same from the bowl A to a point slightly distant from the outer end of the handle, and the ends of the said figure are convoluted, being curved in opposite directions. The figure U is. made tapering toward the bowl A to a point near-its in her end, and toward its outer end it branches off from a single stem, a, into aseries ofslightly-eurved stems, b, which lie alongside each 2 other and terminate in successive order near the edge of the handle. 0n the inner portion of the handle, at one side of the figure G, is a raised wreath of leaves and llowers, I), ex tending from the inner convolution of figure 0 (J to the bowl A, and on the outer portion of the handle, on the opposite side of figure G, is a wreath, 1*], extending along the longeststem, a, and terminating at a short distance from the outer end of the handle. At the outer Term oi patent 7 years.
end 01' thehaudle is a snmothsurl'ace, I The under surface of the handle B is provided with a raised figure, (1, consisting ot' a series of straight iawardly-tapering stems, 0, arranged alongside each other within a bead, d, and extending from near the middle of the 0 handle to a point .near its inner end, where they terminate in a single stem, w, or the. body of the handle. The middle stem, 0, is slightly longer than the others, which decrease in length toward the sides. At the extreme outer end of the handle, on its under surface, is a cluster oileaves and flowers, H, and bctween the latter and the figure G is a smooth surface, I.
What I claim is 1. The design for a spoon or fork handle, consisting of the figure t. shaped as described, having the wreaths ,l.) l!) on opposite sides 01' said figure, as shown and. described.
3. The design for a spoon or fork handle, consisting of the figure (l and the cluster of leaves and flowers H, substantially as shown and described.
