DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SPOONS, 86C.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 14,072, dated 'July 10, 1883.
Application filed May 23, 1883. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, THoMAs J. PAIRPOINT, of New Bedford, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Designs for the Handles'of Spoons, Forks, Ladles, Ste.; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains -to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in designs for handles of spoons, forks, ladles,
Ste.; and it consists in the ornamentation which will be more fully described hereinafter,
whereby a beautiful and ornamental appearance is presented.
The accompanying drawing represents my design.
The shape of the handle will be as shown.
Theouter corners, B, are rounded away, and
for a suitable distance from these corners there is a plain surface, D. At the lower end of this plain surface there are three lines, G,
formed across the handle, just above a rowk of ilowers, E, which are raised on a lined backany suitable length, and at the inner end of this surface are a series of lines, H, which eX- tend transversely across the handle. Below these lines H are a series of scallops, I, upon a lined background, J, and at the center of this background is a thread or cross-bar, K. Below the crossbarK, ona lined background, is a second row of scallops, and below these scallops is a second row of lines or threads. Below these lines or threads are two sections of leaves L.
Having thus described my invention, I claiml. A design for spoon, fork, and ladle handles, consisting of the plain surface D, a series of lines, C F, and a row of flowers raised upon the lined background, and placed between the two sets of lines, as shown.
2. A design for spoons, forks, or ladies, consisting of the two series of transverse lines or threads, the scallops on a raised background, the cross -bar upon the raised background, and the two centers of leaves, substantially as specified.
