ARTHUR L. HALLIDAY, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE BIGELOVV CARPET COMPANY, OF CLINTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 14,022, dated July 3, 1883.
Application filed May 16, 1883. Terni of patent 3i years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARTHUR L. HALLIDAY, of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design 5 for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
The accompanying photograph illustrates my new design for carpets.
This invention relates to a new design f'or 1o carpets, oil-cloths, and analogous fabrics, and it consists of the new ornamentation of parts hereinafter more fully pointed out.
A band, p, divides the carpet into an upper part, A, and a lower part, B. The said band I 5 p contains a series of rectangles, but is, by a bar, i', that has an angular bend in it, as shown, disjointed in the direction of its length. The upper part, A, of' the carpet contains representations a of' fanciful flowers, on straight stems, that have leaves I), also a part of a sunflower, d, all of' which are of substantially the same design as is described in application marked 0, filed by me at the saine time with this. The lower part, B, of the carpet has a border, C, at its lower end. Above this border, in th`e body of the part B, is a fioral branch, e, having star-flowers f, and another floral branch,
g, having fiowers h. A series of rosettes, fi, are interspersed between the floral decorations e f and g h. The border C has an upperstripe, 3o j, containing mottled V-shaped figures, and a lower stripe, 7c, containing rosettes Z and inottled figures m.
