Description

AU 291 EX DESIGN.
L. KYSER & A. C. REX.
TOY SAFE.
12,357. Patented July 12,1881.
wife's/s UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LOUIS KYSER AND ALFRED (l. REX, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A TOY SAFE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,357, dated July 12, 1881.
Application filed May 20, 1881. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, LoUIs Krsna and AL- FRED (3. REX, both of the city and county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Improvement in Designs for Toy Safes, of which the following is a specification.
Onrinvention relates to designs for toy safes; and it consists in an ornamentation of the door, as more fully set forth in the following specification and shown in the accompanying drawing, which forms part thereof, and in which- A represents the body of the safe, which is of the usual cubical or prismatic shape, and is provided with the bars D on sides and top. lhe side and top and bottom plates form a rectangular rim, 0, in front. Within this rim (3 the door B is hinged. The door has a projecting edge, G, all around, thus depressing the main snrface, which is furnished with three panels, F F and E, the panels F F being arranged side by side, being flat or straight on the bottom and round or curved on the top, as at f. In the left-hand panel F the key-hole and door-handle are located. The upper panel, E,is arranged horizontally above panels F F, and in shape is rectangular with the corners curved in, as shown at e, and located within this panel are the letters IXL, indicative of the words I excel.
The panels and symbols IXL may be either painted distinctly or formed by castinga raised molding upon the door. In practice we prefer the latter.
If desired, the corners of the upper panel may be altered without departing from the general design.
Having now described our invention, What we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patcut, is-
l. A design for a toy money-box, consisting of a box of general rectangular shape, having a door provided with three panels, two of which are vertical and rounded at the top, and the third horizontal, of general rectangular shape, and arranged above the other panels, as shown and described.
2. A design for a toy safe, consisting of a box of general rectangular shape, having a door provided with three panels, two of which are vertical and rounded at the top, and the third horizontal, of general rectangular shape, arranged above the other panels, and provided with the symbols IX l as shown and described.
In testimony of which invention we hereunto set our hands.
