DESIGN FOR REED-ORGAN CASES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 8.002, dated January 12, 1875; application tiled December 31, 1874. [Term of Patent 14 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN R. LOMAS, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for Organ-Case; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanyin g drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent a perspective view.
This invention relates to a design for the case for reedorgans; and consists in the peculiar configuration and ornamentation, as hereinafter fully described, and shown in the accompanying illustration.
The case consists of two sections, the rear section, a, of substantialb equal width from top to bottom, the front section, b, narrower than the rear section, and extending up to the key-board. The central part of the front section below the key-board is recessed, so that the ends of the front section form pediments, the front of which are paneled, as shown. The external front angles of both sections are rounded, as shown. The lower center panel 0 has an ornamental edge, as shown. The central portion of the rear section above the key board is recessed, and in this recess is a solid panel, (I, serving the purpose of a boolcrack, its front consisting of quadrants forming an elliptical sunken panel, in which is an ornament. Each side of this panel (I is a pediment, 0, in which are hung lamp-brackets, forming, when closed, panels with semicircular indented ends.
I claim- 1. The design for organ-case, consisting of rear section, a, and narrower front section, b, as shown and described.
2. The design for organ'case, consisting of rear section, a, and narrower front section, b, the front section consisting of the two pediments and recessed front 0 between, as shown and described.
3. The central panel, d, between the two pediments 0 above the key-board, as shown and described.
4. The ornamental panels, with semicircular indented ends in the pediments e, as shown and described.
