DESIGN FOR CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,207, dated March 29, 1881.
Application filed January 22, 1881. Term of patent 3-} years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that LCHARLES CHAMBELLAN, of the city of New York, county of New York, and State of New York, have invented a new 5 and original Design for Carpets, of which the following-is a specification.
This invention relates to anew and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration of figures hereinafter more fully described.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.
The group A in the central part of the design 1 is a flower-group composed of the figure h, consisting of a rose and buds; oft-he figure 2, consisting of widely-open circular flowers and their buds; and ot' the figure 1, consisting of a widely-open irregular flower and a partly-closed 2o flower with surrounding foliage. From this group A extends upward a bunch, a, of flowers on delicate stems, of which one is widely open, the others partly open and in bud. The vine b also branches off from and forms part of this group A. The group A partly covers the group G, which is alandscape-group, com-.
posed of the rustic bridged and of the trees 6, with mountains and foliage appearing in the background.
0 Belowthe group O is the figure D, which resembles a vine with delicate stems and thickly-clu-stering flowers, and which, in matching the carpet, becomes part of the floral group F, which partly overlaps one end of the bridge d.
A flower-group, B, composed of the figuref, 5 resembling a spray of wild roses, and of the figure g, made up of flowers and their accompanying leaves, is directly below the group A, and connects with the vine b, as shown.
I claim 7 4o 1. The design for carpets, consisting of the group A, composed of figures h, i, l, and b, substantially as shown.
2. The design for carpets, consisting of the figures D and F, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the group B, composed of figuresf and g, substantially as shown.
4. The design for carpets, consisting of the landscape-group O, composed of figures d and e, substantially as shown.
5. The design for carpets, consisting of the groups A and G, substantially as shown.
6. The design for carpets, consisting of the group A, B, and O, substantially as shown.
7. The design for a carpet, consisting of the groups A, D, F, and C, substantially as shown.
8. The design for carpets, consisting of the group A. containing figures b, h, i, and l, the group 0, containing figures d and c, the group B, containing figuresf and g, and the figures a, D, and F, substantially as shown.
