DESIGN FOR CARPET.
Specification forming part ofDesign No. 1 l ,502, dated November 1l, 1879; application tiled September 18, 1879. [Terni of patent 3gyears] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ETIENNE Grimani), of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for a Carpet, of which the following is a specification.
The accom pan ying photographicillustration represents a face View ot' my newly-designed carpet.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets, oilcloths, and similar fabrics.
It consists in the new ornamentation, configuration, and grouping of the figures, hereinafter more fully described.
Upon the background of the carpet, which is preferably made of different colors, is represented a large scroll, A, having three branches, a, b, and c. The branch a terminates in a bouquet, d. The central largest branch, b, is snail-shaped and terminates in a iiower, c. A rich bouquet, j', is placed at the side ot' this branch and connects therewith. The branch c terminates in a bouquet, g. Upon the back ground is furthermore represented a conspicuous floral group, B, in which a ternate leaf, h, and incised leaf i and a group of palm-leaves, 7', are prominent. A cluster of iiowers in compact panicles, k, and a small tree-like ornament, l., are also represented in this group. D
is a large scroll traversing` the group B and terminating in a volute, m.
