Specification forming part of Design No. 10,868, dated October 15, 1878; application filed Septemher27, 1878.

[Term of patent 14 years] To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, J AMES M. CONNER, of Greenville, Hudson county, New J erscy, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Font of Printing-Types, of which the following is a specification:

The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographic impression, to which reference is made; and consists of a lightface sloping letter.

This design differs from the design patented by me March 24, 1874, No. 7,252, in that in the present application the letters are italicised. The lower-case further differs from the lowercase shown inLetters Patent granted me March 24,1874, No. 7,252, as follows: The a is not provided with the curved termination at the upper leftvhand corner. In the e the central portion of the letter on the right, instead of beinghorizontal, is inclined. In the f the lower termination of the letter is curved to the left. In the h, i, k, 1, 1n, n, and u the lower termination of the letter upon the right is curved, instead of having the triangular termination. In the v and w the portion upon the right-hand upper corner curves to the left. In the X the lower left-hand and upper right-hand terminations curl, the one to the left, the other to the right. In the z the upper termination on the left and the lower termination upon the right curl, as shown.

Having now set forth my invention, what I claim as new is The design for a font of printing-type, as shown and set forth.
